Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar, at one point during Wednesday’s raucous presidential debate on the Las Vegas Strip, suggested her opponents take their sparring down to the MGM Grand for fight night.

It was an apt comparison. The eight previous Democratic debates were marked by relatively civil policy disagreements interrupted by occasional dustups and memorable one-liners. On Wednesday night, the gloves came off.

CARSON CITY — On the heels of an incredibly successful 2019 season and due to popular demand, V&T Railway has begun early ticket sale booking for the 2020 season. I don’t have a valentine but I have a BF who I affectionately call Izzy. Two weeks ago she was in a very serious head on collision on Highway 50. A woman was going the wrong direction on the highway. She was airlifted to Renown, is finally home and has a long recovery ahead of her. I would love to do something special for her in her time of healing, and quite frankly anytime! She is caring, loving, compassionate, giving, honest and so much more! She never asks for anything so I hope you’ll consider my story so I could surprise her with an evening out! She deserves it! Carson City's newest legislator arrived a year too early for session, finding himself confused by the lack of activity at the State Legislature Friday morning.

When asked what laws he was most interested in this year, he began giving vague talking points, as a true politician would.

"Well in the capitol of Nevada, the bucks stops here," he said. "You've got questions, and we've got antlers."

He then kissed a baby and winked at a photographer before trotting off into the dawn.

The CHS, NJROTC Orienteers competed in a weekend long orienteering festival in Anza Borrego State Park, Calif., Jan. 17-18. During the festival, team members competed in three different races over the two days.

County managers representing Carson City, Douglas, Lyon, Storey, Churchill and Mineral counties gathered Wednesday in Carson City as a part of Northern Nevada Development Authority's annual “State of the Counties” meeting.

The Carson City School District issued the following statement Monday following the death Saturday of Carson High School 2017 graduate Jake Roman, whose mother, Susan Roman, is a teacher at Carson Middle School and Jake's father, Blair, who is the athletic director of Carson High School.

Once the funeral was over and family members had all gone back home, Stacia Nepper knew it was time to deal with her cousin’s death.

Eric Steven Abowd left this world all too early at the age of 39 on Tuesday, January 7, 2020.

Eric was born March 28, 1980 in Seattle, Washington but moved to Carson City shortly after, where he spent all his growing-up years. Eric bled Nevada blue and white as a wrestler, running back and Captain for the Carson High Football program. He was always happiest driving the ball up the field.
