On Thursday, May 25, Café at Adele’s is raising money and awareness for Nevada Humane Society and you can dine with them to participate.

The Nevada Department of Corrections and Nevada Division of Forestry have deployed 11 inmate fire crews to assist in preparation for possible flooding in Northern Nevada and California. The crews, each made up of 24 minimum security inmates, are in route from Stewart Camp in Carson City, Tonopah, Ely and Three Lakes Valley Camp located approximately 30 miles north of Las Vegas.

As I contemplate the topic of this week’s Animal Files Column, I struggle. The reason is because the story that I am going to share is based off secondhand information. I don’t know whether it’s true or false. The ethical part of me doesn’t want to put misinformation out there. The other part of me knows that this story is spreading like wildfire on social media and that people are already forming their own opinions.

People come together, families celebrate, and the mood is festive no matter where you go.

CARSON CITY, Nev. — Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation, a non-profit organization that offers Dream Flights to U.S. military veterans living in retirement communities and long-term care facilities, received a $5,000 grant from Vital Life Foundation, a Marquis and Consonus Foundation that supports organizations and programs that provide meaning and vitality in the lives of seniors and staff members living and working in long-term care.

For 15 years, employees of the First Judicial District Court, Carson City Justice and Municipal Court and Alternative Sentencing Department adopt families and seniors for the holiday season. Through employee and judge donations, gifts and food are given to families from Advocates to End Domestic Violence and to seniors to brighten their holidays.

I volunteer a lot of my time. Every potential client gets 30 minutes on the phone with me. I work with community organizations to support local causes. Advocates to End Domestic Violence is one of those. Each holiday, I usually write something about the importance of volunteerism. My husband and his brother just lost their father, James Albert Ricard, last night. He was 54. We have set up a gofundme account to help pay for any costs related to this tragedy. Hello fellow anglers. We have had two successful kids fishing derbys in our area. The Lampe Park Kids Derby had 1,300 children attend this year and last Saturday was the Alpine County Kids Fishing derby at Indian Creek.
