Outdoors with Don Q: Reserve March 2 for a highly-popular fundraiser

This is an annual reminder of my all-time favorite fundraiser: The highly-popular and fun-filled, Carson Valley Chukar Club fund raiser, which will be held at the Douglas County Fairgrounds on Saturday, March 2.
This year’s fund raiser will be its 27th version.

High Sierra Flycasters 2012 Fundraiser

Ready for some good company to help you get tuned up for spring fishing? There’s nothing like the reminiscences of trips of the past and the anticipation of a new season to get the piscatorial juices flowing.
If this sounds like something for you, come to the High Sierra Flycasters Fund Raiser on Saturday March 10.
You can see the Weirachs’ photo history of the past years’ catches, meet up with old friends, make some new ones, and try for some nice prizes.
All this is to the music of Linda Sandstrom and dinner by Todd Wilcks’ Hey Ewe Barbecue.

Saturday evening, March 3, will be the date of my all-time favorite fundraiser: The highly-popular and fun-filled, Carson Valley Chukar Club fund raiser, which will be held as usual at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.
This year’s version will be its 26th fundraiser.

Clear Creek Bowmen Cancer Shoot on May 8

As a reminder, the Clear Creek Bowmen, an archery organization in Carson City, will hold a fund raising, archery shoot on Sunday, May 8.

That shoot will be held at the Centennial Park Archery Range (east of the Eagle Valley Golf Course), just off U.S. 50.
Driving directions to the Archery Range from the intersection of U.S. 395 and U.S. 50 in Carson City: Drive four miles east on U.S. 50 (go past the Deer Run Road Intersection).

Turn left at the Added Storage Building and drive north until the road ends. Turn right at the Archery Range sign and look for the green building.

WE of the World Carson City Monthly Luncheon

Our guest speaker this month is Tammy Westergard Deputy Director of Carson City Public Library. Tammy Westergard is an active Carson City leader, volunteer and professional. After four years with the Carson City Office of Business Development as well as serving on the library's Foundation board, in 2010 she became the Deputy Director of Carson City Public Library. In that capacity she facilitated the opening of the Business Resource and Innovation Center, a specialized resource focused exclusively on supporting local businesses.

Donations sought for Tahoe chapter of Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation banquet

The 13th Annual Big Game Banquet of the Tahoe Basin Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation will be held in Carson City at the Casino Fandango April 30.

Those active in the foundation are asked to help with donations and underwriting of the event. Donation entries for the Program placement with proper credited entry prior to the program printing are needed by March 20th. Any help you can give the foundation will be greatly appreciated!

St. Peter's Throwing Sock Hop, by Holly Golly

A Buddy Holly Sock Hop will resurrect rock ‘n roll and reprise the fabulous ‘50s for the young and young-at-heart come April 10th at Carson City’s Brewery Arts Center.
