Nevada Rural Housing show and shine returning to Carson City Aug. 19

Following a successful first year as a fundraiser of the Nevada Rural Housing Authority (NRHA) and the Nevada Rural Community Partners (NRCP), "A Place To Shine" Show and Shine car show is returning to Carson City this summer.

A winner of the Carson City Chamber of Commerce 2016 Event of the Year - once again, we expect both local residents and the many visitors to our area to join us for live music, great food and craft vendors, and the excitement of carnival rides and games designed for all ages!

A Place To Shine Inaugural Fundraiser Show N Shine

Join the Nevada Rural Housing Authority and Carson City Cruise - Meet and Greet at 'A Place To Shine Inaugural Fundraiser Show N Shine' at Carson High School, 1111 S. Saliman Rd. in Carson City. Registration of cars/trucks, motorcycles, and lowrider bikes on the day of show ranges from $20-$30. The event is free for spectators. For the participants with LOW vehicles, the registration entrance does NOT have any dips and/or bumps.

RSVP to celebrate 31st Carson City spring carnival May 5-8 at Mills Park

A “Salute to Spring” will be the theme of the 31st annual RSVP Spring Celebration and Carnival at Mills Park in Carson City.

It all begins on Thursday, May 5, with Dollar Night, where every ride is just $1. The fun continues at the carnival on Friday and throughout the weekend, when Wold Amusements Carnival has special all-day ride passes for $30.

Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town this Friday at Silver and Snowflakes Festival of Lights

Chestnuts will be roasting at the Carson City Elks booth on Telegraph Street this Friday as thousands assemble to hear the Carson City School District Fifth Graders sing traditional carols on the steps of the capitol as part of the Silver and Snowflakes Festival of Lights.

Nevada 150 events planned throughout July

Many celebrations are scheduled statewide in the month of July. These Nevada 150 events help celebrate all things Nevada and bring awareness to the state’s 150th Anniversary of Statehood. The following events are held July 1 through July 12.

25th annual Bowers Mansion Bluegrass Festival

The 25th Annual Bowers Mansion Bluegrass Festival takes place the weekend of Aug 13-15. The weekend opens at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 13 with a free open-air concert at the Davis Creek Park Amphitheater. The main Bowers Mansion Bluegrass Festival takes place from 9:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14 on the Bowers Mansion grounds, gate opens at 9 a.m., Cost $15 adults, $3 kids 2-12. Seven bluegrass bands will perform. Food and craft vendors on site.
