Take advantage of the extra daylight while it lasts. Saturday is the final day of the year for Daylight Savings Time. Be sure to "fall back" one hour on your clocks Saturday night into early Sunday when Standard Time takes over.
Dia de los Muertos: Creating Cultural Connections in Carson City

The Nevada State Museum and Western Nevada College in Carson City are once again teaming up to present a Day of the Dead community celebration on Saturday, Nov. 3 at the museum.
The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and admission is free. Activities include performances by Mexican and Aztec folkloric dancers, an exhibition of altars, and Day of the Dead crafts including sugar skull decorating and face painting for youngsters.

Not a cloud in the sky, and yet we have been hit by a perfect storm: Cinco de Mayo, Kentucky Derby Day, and the monthly wine walk have all collided. Let me tell you, downtown is going to be hopping, not to mention the Early Season Farmers Market making its seasonal debut in the parking lot at W. Musser and N. Nevada – just behind Due Sorella. Take the kids down to Bailys Pond at Fuji Park for the annual Tom Brooks Memorial Kids’ Fishing Day. A trip to the train museum comes with the opportunity to ride on the Historic McKeen Motor Car.

November 8, 2014 - 10:00am The Nevada State Museum celebrates El Día de Muertos or Day of the Dead from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014. Day of the Dead is a multicultural celebration of life through death. In this wholesome family holiday, participants learn to deal with death in a healthy way by celebrating the lives of dear ones that has passed away. The holiday has become very popular in recent years and is celebrated in schools, homes, community centers and museums in all 50 states.
