Show off our great valley with a trip to the State Railroad Museum: the McKeen Motor Car is up and running. Enjoy opening night of Pinkerton Ballet’s ‘The Nutcracker’ at the Community Center. So much crazy fun awaits: whether it’s the celebration of our ‘new’ downtown, Halloween parties for kids and adults alike, or our State Museum’s 75th Anniversary. Start your day at the Museum, hang around for the downtown ribbon cutting and festivities, then join in the costumed fun as Blinky Man hits the streets. Do the time warp at the Brewery Arts Center: the Rocky Horror Picture Show Party starts at 8:30 p.m. This is going to be one amazing weekend, so let’s get this party started.

There’s a riot at Mills Park. Don’t worry, this isn’t the kind of riot you want to avoid: the Rockabilly Riot has roared into town and offers rad cars, drag races, live music, a burlesque show and tattoo expo. Intermingled with the pompadours and pin-up girls are hundreds of law enforcement officers in town to show off their skills at the Annual Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge. Tonight you’ll have to choose where you go for free music: the street dance at Jimmy G’s, Gold Dust West, Westside Pour House, the Fandango, Nugget, or Max Casino.

Get your early primary vote in this afternoon, then stick around for the Artist Reception for the new exhibit in the CCAI Gallery upstairs in the Courthouse Building. Live music can be found at our bigger casinos, and a dj will keep you on the dance floor at Jimmy G’s, Alatte in the Carson Nugget, and Living the Good Life. Sassafras welcomes Bryan McPherson to the stage at 8 pm; you’ll want to get there earlier to take full advantage of their menu.

Carson City sheriff’s arrest log: Man jailed on suspicion of DUI, leaving scene of crash

An Incline Village man was arrested Sunday on felony suspicion of hit and run causing injury after allegedly driving drunk, crashing into a vehicle and then driving to the parking lot of Walmart, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Sheriff's Log: Dayton man arrested for felony extortion

Robert Edwin Deuel, 43, of Dayton, was arrested Friday afternoon in the 3300 block of Highway 50 East for felony extortion and gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous weapon.

According to the arrest report, Carson City Sheriff deputies were concluding a traffic stop on Arrowhead Drive when a woman approached them with information about vehicle that had recently been stolen from her. She said Deuel had contacted her, and said he would take her to the car if she paid him money.

Carson City officers arrest three on felony charges Sunday; man jailed for alleged credit card theft

A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday and faces a felony charge of unlawful use of a credit card.
Jack Michael Bell is being held on $7,500 bond in the Carson City Jail. According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the 200 block of Fairview Drive in reference to a fraud report.

The victim advised she discovered that her Chase Bank debit card was missing two days ago and she said she suspected her roommate and boyfriend, Jack Michael Bell, took her debit card, the arrest report states.

Carson City sheriff's deputies make drug and burglary-related arrests

Drug crimes, burglary, child neglect and a third DUI offense made up the bulk of this weekend's felony-related arrests, Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies report.

Two men were arrested Sunday and face felony charges after attempting to steal air compressors from a vacant Carson City building. Arrested were Geoffrey Earl Meudt, 39, of Gardnerville and Steven Walter Cozad, 30, of Wellington, Nev. Both are being held and face charges of being in possession of burglary tools and gross misdemeanor charges of conspiracy to commit theft.
