Carson City will provide Christmas tree recycling in cooperation with public works and Capital Sanitation and Waste Management Inc.

As in previous years, Christmas trees can be placed curbside on your regular trash collection day or taken to one of the dropoff locations. Trees will be chipped in the springtime and used as mulch. The program continues to be a success. Last year the effort redirected 59 tons of wood waste from the city's landfill.

Unlike last year, the Sierra League baseball championship won't be at stake this week when the Carson Senators and Douglas Tigers square off in a three-game series.
