Dinner and meeting

Carson City Mint 150th anniversary, fitness events, classic film showing and more Tuesday

Heading into Tuesday, the capital city will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Carson City Mint with events throughout the day. Other activities include a morning and evening walk hosted by Muscle Powered, a dinner fundraiser for the Roman family at Pizza Factory, a community dinner and meeting invite to the Order of Eastern Star, a showing at the BAC of the 1941 film classic "The Lady Eve" and a concert featuring the Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus with violin soloist Elizabeth Pitcairn at Shepherd-Sierra Lutheran Church. The Carson City Council of the United States Navy League will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019 at the Gold Dust West Hotel and Casino, Carson City.

The Carson City Council of the United States Navy League will hold its first meeting of the New Year on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at the Gold Dust West Hotel and Casino in Carson City.

The social hour starts at 5:30 p.m. and dinner is served at 6:30 p.m.

Our speaker will be Lt. Col. Adrian Armold, USMC, Executive Officer, Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center, Pickle Meadows, CA.

Lt. Col. Armold is a 20-year veteran of the Marine Corps with assignments to Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

The Carson City Council is the local branch of the Navy League of the United States. We meet on quarterly basis, conducting a dinner meeting with informational speakers that talk about a wide range of topics and the Sea Services missions.

This quarter’s Dinner and meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the Gold Dust West Hotel and Casino, Carson City. The Social hour will start at 5:30 PM and Dinner will begin at 6:30PM.

This meeting’s guest speaker will be Captain Ted Powers, USMC. Capt. Powers is the Headquarters Company Commander at MCMWTC, Pickel Meadows, CA.

Mayor Bob Crowell, the Council’s first president will speak and hopefully be joined by some of the other original members of the council to help us celebrate the occasion!

The speaker for the dinner will be Glenna Smith, local representative for U.S. Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nevada. She will be discussing Veterans Affairs.

This is a change of location. The dinner hour will begin after 6:15 PM. Attendees will be accessing the Casino Buffett from the Banquet Room. Our speaker will be Katherine (Kat) Miller, Col. USA, ret., the Executive Director of the Nevada Office of Veterans Services. She is a 34 year veteran of the US Army and a Military Correctional Specialist.
