Oodles of Noodles food festival in Dayton this weekend

Hosted by the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, Oodles of Noodles is a two-day event in Old Town Dayton that combines great food provided by our contestants and food vendors, amazing entertainment, local talent, and tons of vendor and business booths.
The Oodles of Noodles Cook-off will be SATURDAY ONLY from 10am-2pm. Tasting Tickets are $5 for Adults and $3 for Children.
Carson City Sheriff's Office flag dedication has deep roots

The ceremony kicked off a second presentation where three deputies were awarded the “Life Saving Medal” for assertive medical actions resulting in the saving of a life. Deputy Matt Putzer, John Hitch, and Chris Ramos all received medals for their service. The ceremony was concluded as Deputy Bill Richards was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

Nevada Commission on Homeland Security agrees on 10 funding priorities for 2013

Volunteers help Carson City school construct new playground equipment

Through the support of the Let Them be Kids organization that awarded the school equipment, along with faculty, staff, students and parents, the playground equipment is designed with all students, especially those with autism.

Though a small class, they were mighty and bonded well. Over the course of 2012, they shared many wonderful experiences meeting community leaders and learning about our unique community. The economic effects on the Lake Tahoe Basin could be devastating, the group says, shutting out what clearly has been public access for not only snowmobiles, but mountain bikes, dirt bikes, and 4-wheel ATVs.

This story was then intentionally leaked to the press, so that it would be reported just before voting started in Mr. Knecht’s primary re-election campaign. Ron won the primary handily, because voters are very aware his outstanding record, fine character, and dedication to public service.

Washoe offers sacred name 'Tahnu Leweh' for Lakeview Commons in South Lake Tahoe

Given its 6,000 year history, the Washoe Tribe has presented the name Tahnu Leweh (Pronounced Tah-New Lay-Way) which, in native language, means "all the people's place." It is a name the Tribe would like to gift to El Dorado County and South Lake Tahoe as a symbol of peace, prosperity and goodness, said Darrel Cruz, Culture and Language Director for the Washoe Tribe.

Former State Sen. Bill Raggio, Lion Of Nevada Politics, Dead At 85

Officials from around the state expressed sorrow and sympathy for Raggio’s family when news of the loss of the highly-regarded lawmaker was first reported by Las Vegas Sun columnist Jon Ralston early today.
Longtime family friend Greg Ferraro told Ralston: “Officially, Bill Raggio passed away last night at 10pm PST of respiratory illness in Sydney Australia. Funeral arrangements are pending.”
Bill Raggio, legendary Nevada politician, dies
Submitted by admin on Fri, 02/24/2012 - 10:08amBill Raggio, who is considered by many to be the most powerful force in Nevada politics over the last 30 years, has died while on vacation in Australia Thursday evening. He was 85.
Jon Ralston of the Las Vegas Sun broke the news.
Raggio was first elected to the Nevada State Senate in 1972. He resigned from the seat he held for 38 years after supporting Democrat Harry Reid in 2010 over Republican Sharron Angle.
Raggio ruled the Nevada State Senate as the GOP leader and chairman of the Finance Committee. It's safe to say that few bills passed the Nevada Legislature in the last 30 years without his approval.
