J's Bistro in Dayton hosts a spaghetti feed fundraiser for the Remote Area Medical program. A special lecture on the Sutro Tunnel takes place in Virginia City this evening.

SILVER CITY, Nev. — The "Silver Pavilion" Inaugura- Palooza concert on August 20th was a big success with at least 150 folks from near and far in attendance during the 6 hour event. The festival style public event was held to celebrate the much anticipated addition of a new outdoor stage to the region's arts and music scene.

Today's Easy Walk with the Parks and Recreation Department takes you along the Moffat Open Space on the east side of town. The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada offers 'Books and Brags', essentially a story with craft time. Have a hot time with the fire-dancers of Controlled Burn: they meet at A to Zen on Tuesdays and welcome newcomers.

The fireworks went off in Carson City last night without a hitch, bringing the end of another incredible weekend. Today may feel a little like a Monday, but there are plenty of ways to enjoy yourself. Check out the new Spirit of America show at the Nevada Artists Association Gallery at the Brewery Arts Show. Our local Classic Cinema Club meets tonight and will be showing 'A Walk in the Sun' with Dana Andrews. If you feel like playing with fire, Controlled Burn meets at A to Zen to practice the right way to handle the flames.

Summer is moving right along. We are days away from the Fourth of July weekend: fireworks, the Downtown wine walk, a carnival at Mills Park, and Wildhorse Children’s Theater's production of Aladdin, Jr. Weekdays in Carson City aren’t shirking their duties though, as there is plenty to do today. Learn some swing dance moves at El Charro Avita or go for a walk with the Parks and Recreation Department. Singer-songwriter, Canyon White, entertains at Living the Good Life. For those with a skewed sense of humor: Mystery Science Theater 3000 makes an appearance at Galaxy Theater tonight.

The Rockabilly Riot roars into town today and it’s bring cool cars, a tattoo expo, music, contests, pin-up girls, and so much more. Check it out at Mills Park and make sure to catch the talented officers competing in this year’s Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge while you’re there. The kids in town are getting a new Teen Center at the Boys and Girls Club: the ribbon cutting is at 10 a.m. You’ll find author Mike White at the Nevada State Museum this evening. His presentation on the best backpacking trips in Nevada and California is part of the Francis Humphrey Lecture Series.

Whether you celebrate taco Tuesday, Tahoe Tuesday, or just any day that the sun is shining, enjoy. Dayton kids are in for a treat at the Dayton Library with at reading of 'The Tortoise and the Hare.' The Reno Rodeo is still around, so hit up their carnival and watch the cowboys do their thing. If you can't make it to Reno, Country Line Dance at Carson Lanes will let you get a taste of what you're missing. Tonight, enjoy singer-songwriter Canyon White at Living the Good Life. Step into the past today: the Pony Express re-ride is coming through town. It’s anticipated around 2 p.m. and you can follow their path online HERE. World War II buffs are going to love the Wings of Freedom tour at the Minden Airport; you have until Sunday afternoon to see the planes. Head to Telegraph Square downtown for the first Community Art Night sponsored by Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery and the Charlie B. Gallery.

It is primary election day in Nevada. For Carsonites who didn't vote early, you can choose to vote at the Community Center or at the County Clerk's office, regardless of precinct. Join the Nevada National Guard at the Capitol for their Flag Day ceremony and celebration of the Army’s birthday. Mile High Jazz Band has something special in store. TUESDAY: Primary Election Day

Thursday is something to celebrate. The long-awaited Nevada State Fair kicks off in Mills Park with a ribbon cutting by Governor Sandoval. Grab the kids, your friends, and family and enjoy carnival rides, county exhibits, civil war reenactments and much more. Our neighbors to the south are celebrating, too: the 106th Annual Carson Valley Days is this weekend. If you’re looking for something quieter, the lecture on the Civil War at the Gold Hill Hotel or an author’s talk on the Ghost Railroads of Central Nevada at the Nevada State Railroad Museum might be a better bet.

It's going to be toasty today. Luckily, weekly Parks and Rec 'Easy Walk' starts at 8 a.m., so you'll be off the trail before the sun gets too far overhead. The Brewery Arts Center hosts the Carson City Classic Cinema Club the first Tuesday of each month; join them this evening for trivia and a showing of John Wayne's 'Stagecoach.' Dance the night away to the sounds of big band or cowboys: swing dance lessons are at El Charro Avita, while country line dancing can be found in the Eleventh Frame Lounge at Carson Lanes.

June is Bike Month in Carson City, and the weather is being more than cooperative. The Capitol Amphitheater is where you’ll enjoy a new spin on the Taming of the Shrew, performed by the Carson High Theater Arts Department. Don’t forget a doggie-bag after a meal at Adele’s today: the Bone Appetit fundraiser for the Nevada Humane Society goes on all day.

It’s a big day for the stage in Carson City. Under the lights of the Performance Hall at the Brewery Art Center, the four primary candidates for Carson City Mayor and for State Assembly District 40 will participate in a forum hosted by the Chamber of Commerce. Get to know the people you will see on the June Ballot. At the Bob Boldrick Theater, the Carson High Musical Theater Ensemble will perform for their last time this school year. If you’d like to overcome your inhibitions about public speaking or just improve your skills: the Toastmasters may be the group for you.

A new exhibit has hit town. Over the weekend, the Nevada Artists Association welcomed new works for its Imagination show. Take a moment and explore all the downtown area galleries: the Community Building by City Hall, the gallery upstairs of in the Courthouse, the Sierra Room in the Community Center, and the walls of the Visitor Center. Grab your cowboy boots and learn to line dance at Carson Lanes. Sassafras welcomes Judith and Rocky to the stage for a jazz jam as fun and funky as their menu.

Want to learn something new? The Gold Hill Hotel, the Dayton Historical Society, and the Douglas County Historical Society are all offering a glimpse into the past. The American Sign Language Club at Western Nevada College invites you to an evening of storytelling, poetry, music, and fun at their ‘Open Hands Night.’ Empire Ranch is starting up its 9 and Dine events tomorrow, the only catch is that you’ve got to register by noon today. You’ll find dinner music at Glen Eagles, Sassafras, and Living the Good Life.

I think we are all learning to take advantage of sunny spring days when they arrive. Appreciate the new blooms as you explore the historic downtown as part of a City-sponsored scavenger hunt.
