That single sentence written by Robert E. Price, author of “The Bakersfield Sound” and award-winning Executive Editor of the newspaper Bakersfield Californian, struck a chord with me, for as we go forth with our “reimagining,” we still don’t have a clear vision/identity of who we were or who we are today.

Night in the Country Music Festival has added Craig Morgan and Old Southern Moonshine Revival to the 2016 lineup at the Lyon County Fairgrounds in Yerington, July 21–23.

The Jazz & Beyond - Carson City Music Festival concludes with nine events on Saturday, August 22, and four events on Sunday August 23.

Harveys Outdoor Summer Concert Series at south shore Lake Tahoe has expanded with the announcement of two fan favorites to the summer 2015 lineup. Sir Elton John and his band return Saturday, Aug. 8 to Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena as part of the “All The Hits” tour. This summer also marks the return of country star Brad Paisley.

Country music legend Merle Haggard will launch the TJ's Corral Outdoor concert series May 1 at Minden's Carson Valley Inn, according to an announcement Wednesday on its website.

I don't know about you, but I am ecstatic to hear that this cold snap is on it's way out. It has been a chilly few days and I'm ready for my teeth to stop chattering. Tonight Bobby Parks Band, with special opening guest Stig and Nick, kicks off a month of giving with a free weekday concert at The Blue Bull, located at 107 East Telegraph Street in downtown Carson City. The show kicks off at 6:00 p.m. and ends at 9:00 p.m., enough time to party, sleep, and get to work in the morning.

If you are looking for something different to do this Saturday night, why not try digging some dirt? I'm talking about Red Dirt Country music, that is. If you love new style country music, 90s alternative rock, and funk, Red Dirt style tunes will be music to your ears and Bobby Parks will be performing it live in the heart of downtown Carson City, Saturday, Nov. 15 at 8:30 p.m. at Caterpillar's Hookah Lounge on South Carson Street.

Jazz from 6 to 8 p.m. at Carson Plaza Senior Living, 2120 E. Long St., features performances by Judith Ames and friends. Song stylist Judith Ames has been singing jazz and Latin tunes in multiple languages around the area for the past six years. She will be joined by two fabulous musicians - Rocky Tatarelli, on tenor sax, and Paul January on keys.
