That’s exactly what guest conductor Jeffrey Kahane will do during the Reno Philharmonic Association’s Classix Four concert set. Kahane performs and conducts Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor, K. 466 from the keyboard during this fourth installment of the Reno Philharmonic’s Classix Series, Jan. 18 at 4 p.m. and Jan. 20 at 7:30 p.m.

Consort Canzona 'Lessons and Carols' Concerts Canceled for Dec. 13 and 15
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Fri, 12/12/2014 - 5:22pmThe Consort Canzona "Lessons and Carols" holiday concerts originally scheduled for Saturday afternoon (Dec. 13 at Carson Valley United Methodist Church in Gardnerville) and Monday night (Dec. 15 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Gardnerville) have to be canceled.
Too many of the performers are sick, including the conductor, Gary Schwartz. The group is affiliated with the Carson City Symphony, which WILL be having its 31st Annual "Holiday Treat" Concert as scheduled on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 4:00 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center.

The program includes Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Trumpets featuring baroque trumpters Dwayne Hollenbach and Wm Van Meter and the Vivaldi Gloria featuring the Tahoe Symphony Chorus and vocal soloists.

The first concert will be on Friday, Dec. 5, at 7:30 p.m., at Trinity Episcopal Church, 200 Island Ave. in Reno.
The program will be repeated in Sacramento on Sunday, December 7, at 7 p.m., at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 2391 St. Marks Way. For the Sunday concert, the St. Mark's Chancel Choir and the St. Mark's Singers will join in performance with the Carson Chamber Singers.

This season the Chorus will sing in at least three concerts with the Carson City Symphony: "A Nevada 150 Concert" on October 26, the "Holiday Treat" on December 14, and the "Pops Party" on June 14.

The Reno Philharmonic is now seeking video submissions of “Home Means Nevada” performances from schools and music groups across the state to include as part of a video montage of submitted performances during the concert.

They perform several concerts each year and have sung throughout the area. They sing regularly with the Carson City Symphony and have performed in several concerts with the Reno Philharmonic Chorus and Orchestra.
Carson City Symphony to begin rehearsals for 31st concert season
Submitted by editor on Thu, 08/21/2014 - 8:49amAttention musicians: The Carson City Symphony will begin rehearsals for the 2014-15 concert season on Wednesday, August 27, 7:00 to 9:15 p.m., at the Carson High School band room.
The Symphony, conducted by David Bugli, is a volunteer orchestra of about 55 players who perform music from the 15th to 21st centuries. It is open to string players at any time without audition, and to other instrumentalists when positions are available. Current openings are for strings and horn. Musicians who are interested in joining should contact the Symphony at 775-883-4154.
