Nevada continues to be nation's top gold producer

This total was up 3.2 percent from the 2016 production level of 5.47 million ounces. The average annual price of gold increased slightly from $1,251 per ounce in 2016 to $1,257 per ounce in 2017.

Newest data shows increase in Nevada food and agriculture exports

This is an 8.5 percent year over year increase, and a 106 percent increase since 2013.

First, polls say half of America’s millennials would rather live under socialism or communism than capitalism.
Second, the reality of communism was, horrifically, exactly the opposite of the naïve view held by today’s young and by many people around the world in the last century.
Third, the essential faults and failures of communism also characterize all government to some degree, especially democratic socialism, progressivism and statist liberalism.

Preacher Fire in Douglas County doubles overnight

UPDATE TUESDAY 12:42PM: The Preacher Fire has burned 7,651 acres, according to the Incident Management Team that flew over the fire Tuesday morning to assess the situation.
Douglas County Sheriff Office and Nevada Highway Patrol are working with Nevada Department of Transportation to update the reader boards along Highway 395 from China Springs to Minden warning drivers of low visibility due to smoke.

China is an important market for Nevada and the United States, as it one of the fastest-growing inbound travel markets to our country.
The U.S. Travel Association estimates 5.7 million Chinese visitors to the United States in 2021, which will make it the No. 1 overseas travel market in the United States. According to USTA, the average spending by Chinese visitors in 2015 was $7,201 per visit, more than visitors from any other country.

Obituary: Dianne Askew October 8, 1946 - November 28, 2016

Born in Detroit in 1946, Dianne was raised in El Paso, Texas. A Kappa Delta, she graduated from the University of Texas El Paso with a bachelor’s degree in business. Shortly afterward, a handsome and charming drill sergeant, Phillip “Mike” Askew, just returned from a tour of duty in Vietnam, swept her off her feet.

The question for a Hillary voter is; Will Mrs. Clinton sell the rest of our uranium just to earn another big payday for Bill from our enemies?

Obama addresses conservation and climate change at Lake Tahoe Summit
Submitted by editor on Thu, 09/01/2016 - 12:23pmPresident Barack Obama was cheered enthusiastically Wednesday at the 20th Lake Tahoe Summit, an annual gathering of federal and state leaders from California and Nevada who are dedicated to protecting the Sierra's crown jewel.
"I've never been here," President Obama told the crowd Wednesday at Harvey's Outdoor Arena in Stateline. "Its not that I didn't want to come, but nobody invited me."
The President quipped he's sure to return, "though my transportation won't be as nice."
