Eyes On Carson: Special Olympics Tip-A-Cop at Chilis

Local Special Olympics athletes and coaches greeted customers at the front door to Chili's on Topsy Lane Thursday night, while uniformed law enforcement officers from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and Nevada Highway Patrol took orders and served food to guests.

There is a Tip-A-Cop fundraiser for Special Olympics Nevada tonight, July 21, at Chili's Bar and Grill, 3784 US Highway 395 in Carson City from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Join law enforcement personnel and Special Olympics Nevada for food, fun, and awareness. Law enforcement Personnel will be your waiters and their tips go to support Special Olympics athletes.

Don’t delay grabbing tickets for the Carson High Father-Daughter dance: it’s this Friday. All day long, a fundraiser for Maya Morrison is happening at Firkin and Fox, but head over between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to take advantage of their very first Whiskey Wednesday.

Happy Tuesday, Carson City. The Parks and Rec Easy Walk is something special today. A tour of our Historical west side will give you a new perspective on some of the neat old houses we have around downtown. If you get hungry, it’s hard to go wrong with all you can eat wings at Firkin and Fox; they’ve set up new patio seating on the south side while their Third Street patio gets rebuilt. Lunch or dinner at Chili’s will help the homeless pets that Nevada Humane Society serves.

Monday has returned, the kids head back to school, and the weather is gorgeous. Add a dose of beautiful to your day with a visit to an art Gallery. You’ll find a new exhibit in the Main Gallery at Western Nevada College. Carson City officials will be on hand today at the Community Center to answer questions and explain what is on the budget for the upcoming fiscal year. While you’re there, take a good gander at the Great Basin Native Artists show on display in the Sierra Room.

Watch out for the kids today. It’s Walk to School Day and there will be even more little ones on the streets. Take it easy at lunchtime and enjoy some bluesy music with Dave Leather at Comma Coffee. Or head down after work for their monthly Artist Reception. Billy Migan will be displaying his exhibit titles Pen Sketches. From there, head south a few blocks for ladies night at the Ormsby Club if you’re the pool playing kind. Lake Tahoe Brewery is the place to be for fun trivia and prizes, bring your friends.

Check out the Carson Mall’s Craft Fair and Gift Sale or any of Carson City’s great shops like Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery, Evergreen Gene’s, Morley’s Books, the Artisan Store at the Brewery Arts Center or Purple Avocado for something special for that special someone.

Chili's fundraiser to support Carson City Rec youth programs

Chili's in Carson City will donate 15 percent of patrons checks on Thursday, Sept. 13 to Carson City Recreation Department youth programs. Print out the flyer above and Chili's will make the donation.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Chili's is located at 3784 Highway 395 South.
