TMCC political scientist to speak at Monday's Democratic luncheon

Truckee Meadows Community College political science professor Fred Lokken will be the featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon. Prof. Lokken will give his expert analysis of the recent midterm election and look ahead to the lame duck session of congress, the 2023 legislative session, and prospects for 2024, including the possibility of Nevada hosting the first in the nation presidential primary.

Kimi Cole, former chair of Douglas County Democratic Party and current Chair of the Rural Nevada Democratic Caucus, will speakat Monday's Democratic luncheon. She became chair of Douglas Democrats in March 2013 and served four terms in that position. She was the first Democratic candidate to formally announce a bid for the lieutenant governorship, and if successful will be the first transgender candidate elected to statewide office in the whole of the United States.

The featured speaker at Monday's Carson City Democratic tele-luncheon will be Laura E. Perkins, incumbent Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) regent for District 1 (North Las Vegas). She was sworn in on January 16, 2019 after winning 62% of the vote in a four-way race in the November, 2018 general election.
