Americana with Cadmium Orange
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 10/03/2018 - 8:51pmThe Capital City Arts Initiative presents its exhibition, "Americana with Cadmium Orange", by artist Gig Depio at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery in Carson City. CCAI will host an opening reception on Friday, Oct. 5, 5-7 p.m. The exhibition will be in the gallery from October 5, 2018 to Jan. 31, 2019.
The Courthouse is located at 885 E Musser Street, Carson City. The reception and the exhibition are free and the public is cordially invited. The gallery is open Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Carson High School students tour UNR campus, take EDU 110 course simultaneously

In partnership with the UNR, CHS offers the dual credit EDU 110 course for students interested in pursuing a teaching career.

Campbell was awarded both the Library Services and Technology Act Community Enrichment Grant from the Nevada State Library and Archives and the Carson City School District Schools Foundation Mini Grant Teacher Award to help fund Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Projects and to assist in facilitating an ever-changing CHS Senators Library Collaborative Learning area.

Submitted by Danielle Cook on Fri, 11/10/2017 - 5:36pmA boys and girls pick-up soccer tourney will be held Saturday morning, with donations to going to the seven for the seven teens injured in Thursday's single vehicle rollover crash on Kings Canyon Road.
Organized by Junior Ramirez, a member of Carson Futbol Club, the soccer tournament will be held at Talents Athletic Center: 2749B North Carson Street on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Teams must be 6 person. The fundraising fee is $50 per team. Teams can be co-ed.

Western Nevada College automotive students jump start careers, pass ASE exams

Five of the nine students completing four accelerated classes in automotive mechanics during the fall semester are part of the Jump Start College program.
ROTC students learn ship construction using cardboard and tape at Carson City pool
Submitted by editor on Sat, 12/17/2016 - 10:38amBefore getting into her cardboard boat in the swimming pool, Nicole Brown, 17, was fairly confident her vessel was sound. “We made a strong keel, and all the weight is in the middle,” she said.
She made it four laps across the pool at the Carson City Aquatic Center before the cardboard became too saturated to function.

However, between Carson High School’s Senior Project graduation requirement, made possible by the generous working community of Carson City, the myriad of old and newly formed clubs offered to the students of Carson High, and on-site income earners like The Greenhouse Project, not to mention the Career and Technical Education Jump Start program offered through Western Nevada College, students are figuring out quickly that high school is not the end of their education before starting a career, it is where they may actually begin their careers.
