Carson City Soroptimist will feature Norma Ruelas from the Family Support Council of Douglas County at its Program Meeting, Wednesday, August 22, from noon to 1 p.m. at Glen Eagles. The meeting is open to the public, with prior reservation required.

Carson City Soroptimist will feature Stephen Neff, founder of locally-owned Allevia Living Home Health, during its Program Meeting on Wednesday, July 25, from noon until 1 pm, at Glen Eagles Restaurant.

Carson City Soroptimist will honor local high school Girls of the Month, culminating with presentation of the Girl of the Year Scholarship during its Program Meeting, Wednesday, May 23, from noon until 1 p.m. at Glen Eagles Restaurant.

Around the world, many women are working to improve the lives of women and girls. Some women work to improve conditions for women and girls through their personal or volunteer efforts; others do so through professional avenues.

Wednesday, March 28 Program Meeting of Carson City Soroptimist will feature a short workshop on assessing the state of a non-profit organization.

Carson City Soroptimist will wrap-up its month-long Human Trafficking and Living Violence Free Awareness Program with a panel discussion and art exhibit on Wednesday, Feb. 28, in the north room at Glen Eagles Restaurant.

Soroptimist International of Carson City is currently seeking nominations for the Soroptimist Ruby Award: For Women Helping Women, formerly the Making a Difference for Women Award. This program honors women who use their personal or professional influence to improve the lives of other women.

Carson City Soroptimist will feature recipients of some of its annual Awards and Scholarships during its January Program Meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 24, from noon until 1 pm, at Glen Eagles.

The Carson City Senior Center collected more than 550 gifts from area residents and businesses for homebound seniors this year. The Carson City Senior Center’s Meals on Wheels program delivers almost 300 meals to homebound seniors daily. In the past year, the Center has provided over 79,500 hot meals.

Soroptimist International of Carson City is accepting applications for its Live Your Dream Award. Applications may be obtained online here. Deadline to apply is Nov. 15, 2017.

The Carson City Soroptimist is offering a cash grant to women seeking financial assistance for education or training expenses.

The organization has extended the application deadline for the Live Your Dream Award until Dec. 16.

Carson City Soroptimist seeks players, tee or green sponsors, and raffle prize donors for its 15th Stroke to Help Golf Tournament. Scheduling conflicts have moved the annual fundraiser a month ahead of its usual date, and at a new venue as well.

Soroptimist International of Carson City is once again accepting applications from nonprofit organizations in the Carson City community to receive funding grants.

Soroptimist International of Carson City is still signing up golfers for its 14th annual Stroke to Help golf tournament, coming up on Saturday, Sept. 26.

The tournament is a scramble format, with a 9 a.m. shotgun start, at Eagle Valley Golf. Players can choose to play on either the East Course for the fun, or the West Course for the challenge.

It's Backpack Attack time! Each year Carson City Soroptimist gathers hundreds of new backpacks, filling each with school and hygiene supplies. The filled backpacks are given to local elementary, middle, and high schools to distribute as needed.

Carson City Soroptimist will host an Intro to Soroptimist Social Thursday, Nov. 8. Local business women, those recently retired from a profession, and those just embarking on a career are invited. This is an opportunity to meet members of the local club, learn about their projects, events, and scholarships, and experience their camaraderie in a fun and relaxed setting. Wine, non-alcoholic beverages, and lots of finger foods will be available.

Soroptimist International of Carson City seeks golfers, tee or green sponsors, and raffle prize donations for their 11th annual Stroke to Help Golf Tournament. The tournament is Saturday, September 29, at Eagle Valley Golf Course. Golfers may choose to play either the duffer-friendly East Course or the challenging links-style West Course. Play on both courses will be a 9 a.m. Shotgun start, with a Scramble format. Cost is $85 per player, and includes a Continental Breakfast, greens fee and cart, tee prizes, and a Barbecue lunch afterwards.
