Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region. The November Gobble Wine Walk kicks off in downtown Carson City followed by a new “Paths and Pedals” bike tour. Fall-themed train rides from the Virginia Truckee Railroad Company and the Nevada State Railroad Museum will be available on Saturday and Sunday. A virtual “Light After Dark” fitness event will be held on Saturday to support the Carson City-based Advocated to End Domestic Violence program. The Carson City Library will be hosting a virtual story time for PRE-K (children not yet in elementary school) and families on Oct. 15 at 11:30 a.m.

Heading into the weeknd, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City area. Lions Club kicks off its annual “White Cane Days” Saturday and Sunday in Carson City to increase awareness of the white cane traffic safety laws, and collect used eyeglasses for distribution to those in need. Local business Wizard of Pawz grooming salon hosts a socially-distanced grand opening on Saturday afternoon, followed by a pool tournament at Bulldog Billiards at 6 p.m. Combined with live music and karaoke, the state capitol will be packed with excitement! Meet Dr. Elizabeth Rampe, a collaborator on the Mars Curiosity Rover and a member of the Mars analog mission science team. There will be a presentation on the Red Planet and Q&A. Our group activity is helping our own rover navigate across Mars.

While we have appreciated the support of our loyal fans, our business — like many others in our community — has been challenged with the fallout of the pandemic.

Aww, the excitement of that early morning phone call and the joyfulness of being able to go back to sleep with the anticipation of a full day ahead of hanging out in pajamas and watching Netflix or Amazon Prime.

As the 2020-21 school year continues, the Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada is packed with learning programs and exciting activities for kids of all ages.

The Carson City location at 1870 Russell Way is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with dozens of hands-on programs. Spots inside the building are limited to 135 kids each day, but countless activities will be held throughout the year.

Carson City Kiwanis is hosting its seventh annual Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day on Saturday with several activities for all to enjoy. Heading into Labor Day weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. Steam train rides in Carson City and Virginia City will be available Saturday through Sunday. The Carson Canyon Railbike Tours will run four times over the next three days, bringing excitement unlike any other. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Carson City will conduct a public meeting on September 9, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. (All meetings will be online, please see directions below), in order to discuss possible applications for funding under the next fiscal year’s (July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022) State Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program and to solicit citizen input on possible activities to be included in the application.

Last week the Carson City Library and Google co-hosted an online workshop for the state’s small businesses including the Nevada Small Business Development Center and the Connected Commerce Council for Nevada.

The Carson City Library is hiring to fill an open Digitorium Internship. Digitorium interns help manage the library's teen space and assist with program planning and implementation. The Digitorium Internship starts Sept. 1 and runs through the 2020/2021 school year.
