Heading into Wednesday, June 12, 2019 means we are half way through the work week. Temperatures will be around the 90 mark with a chance of afternoon showers. Activities lined up include art classes, a hike designed for tots through Carson City Parks and Recreation, a Ninja aerobic class at Yaple's Ballroom and you can hear local author CW Bayer talk about three of his books on area history at Browsers Corner Book Store. Good morning Carson City and welcome to the first day of the working week and the last week of November. It is Monday, Nov. 26, 2018. For those keeping score, there are 29 days left until Christmas. Were you able to get some of your holiday shopping done this weekend? You've got plenty of time this week to pick up good bargains, though it will be somewhat soggy outside. A series of winter storms will push through the Sierra and Carson City region this week.

Carson City community 'tastes' books in reading project

Linda Bellegray attended Carson City Library’s Book Tasting on Friday evening, and determined the sampling to be delicious.

“I’m interested in several of these books,” she said. “There’s a plethora of ideas about how to improve cities in practical ways right here in these books. Our city fathers should be here.”

April 2017 Capital City Reads: Building a Better Community

Are you a coffee-drinking, book lover? Looking for a way to make new friends? Then join us on the last Saturday of the month for a book discussion over drinks and eats! This month we will be reading Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro. There are five library copies available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Trivia Night set for Thursday at Carson City Library

Carson City Friends of the Library Browser's Corner bookstore celebrates first year

It is hard to believe that it has been a year since we opened Browsers Corner Book Store at its current 711 E. Washington St. location in Carson City. Browsers Corner Book Store, operated by the Friends of Carson City Library, will celebrate its first year in business Monday, April 13.

Fourth annual New York New Year's Eve tickets on sale through Dec. 21, fundraiser for Carson City Friends of the Library

Tickets for the Friends of the Carson City Library 4th annual New York New Year's Eve Party are on sale now through Dec. 21. This spectacular annual party helps raise money for the Carson City Library.

Hosted by the Friends of the Carson City Library and the Carson City Library Foundation, the event runs from 6 to 10 pm in the Carson Nugget Ballroom.

Carson City Friends of the Library to hold Dec. 13 Buy One Get One Free book sale

The Friends of the Carson City Library are having a Buy One Get One Free book sale Friday, December 13th from 10 am to 5 pm. All books and audio visual items will be included. The sale is at 2311 N. Carson Street (right behind Denny's). There will be a preview sale day for members of the Friends on Thursday from 2 pm to 5 pm. If you are not a member yet, it's easy to join at the door. Carson City Friends of the Library sale Friday, Kiwanis pancake breakfast Saturday

Summer beach reading favorites and a Saturday morning Kiwanis Club pancake breakfast are on tap beginning today at the Friends of the Carson City Library's Bargain Blast Book Bonanza.

All adult hardcover books will be 50 cents each and paperbacks will be 25 cents. The sale will be at the Carson City Library, 900 N. Roop Street, today, Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

New Book Sale Location for Carson City Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Carson City Library has a new location for book sales. It is at 2311 North Carson Street, just behind Denny's Restaurant. There is lots of parking off of Hot Springs both in front of the building and behind it. Having a "permanent" space for our sales means that we will be having a sale very month.
The hours for our first sale in February are:

— Thursday, Feb. 14th - 3 pm to 6 pm - preview for members only
— Friday and Saturday, Feb. 15 & 16 - 10 am to 4 pm for everybody

Carson City Library Director Sara Jones Named Nevada Librarian of the Year

Carson City Library Director Sara Jones was named the 2012 Nevada Library Association’s (NLA) Librarian of the Year at its 67th annual conference, held Oct. 4 & 5 at the Sahara West Library in Las Vegas. Jones joins the ranks of an elite group of librarians recognized for effective advancement and extension of library services; exemplary library management; notable activity in recruitment to the profession; statewide planning and for broadening the scope of library and information service to the community.

Paula Poundstone to perform in Carson City to raise money for the Library

Carson City, NV—The Carson City Friends of the Library CCFL is hosting a performance by award winning comedienne, Paula Poundstone to raise money for the Library. The CCFL invited Poundstone to Carson City to celebrate National Friends of the Library Week and to help raise money for the Library.

The performance will take place on Friday, October 26 at the Bob Boldrick Theater (Community Center), located at 851 East William Street in Carson City. The doors open at 7 PM.

Great books, bargain prices in support of Carson City Friends of The Library

Nine-year-old Sonia Byington, left, and her mother, Kendall, of Santa Cruz, Calif., stopped by the Carson Mall in Carson City on Saturday afternoon for the Friends of the Carson City Library Bargain Book Sale. The daughter-school teacher team were in Carson City this weekend visiting family member Cindy Byington, a Friends of the Library volunteer. The next Friends of the Library book sale will be in September.
