A break in the storm this afternoon will make for an easier trek home, but you can always take up the challenge after Spring break next week. The annual Father-Daughter Dance at Carson High is fast approaching, and today is your last chance for in-person ticket sales. Head to the Carson High office between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. if you’ve got cash in hand.
A few showers today, rain and river runoff add to park area flooding along Morgan Mill Road
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sun, 05/07/2017 - 8:51amMore rain showers are in the forecast on this Sunday, according to the National Weather Service, adding to soggy conditions and rain-soaked saturated areas around Morgan Mill Road and up through Empire Ranch Golf Course which have experienced flooding.
NWS forecasts Carson River to crest above flood stage by Saturday in Carson City area
Submitted by Brett Fisher on Fri, 02/10/2017 - 8:05amThe Carson River in and around Carson City could reach major flooding levels by early Saturday morning, the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno forecasts.
As of 4:15 a.m. Friday morning, the river in Carson City was measured at 9.2 feet, reaching flood stage when it crests at 10 feet.
The NWS forecasts the Carson River is expected to rise above 11 feet by Saturday, staging the river at major flood levels for the second time in a month.
Carson City reactivates Emergency Management Operations Center due to flash flooding
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 01/11/2017 - 12:02amFlash floods early Wednesday morning prompted the Carson City Emergency Management Operations Center to reactivate, officials said.
Carson City Fire Department, Sheriff's Office and Public Works have responded to multiple areas where flash flooding is underway, said Fire Chief Bob Schreihans. The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Flash Flood Warning until 5:45 a.m. Wednesday for Carson City and Douglas County.
