Enjoy ice cream and a concert by the Capital City Community Band at the First United Methodist Church on Musser St. Close out the evening with karaoke at Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar.

Summer nights were made for outdoor concerts. Bring a chair and enjoy All Hat, No Cattle at Dangberg Home Ranch Historical Park. The annual Reno Corvette Club Show and Shine will give you something to drool over. Ready to have some fun? Virginia City’s Chili on the Comstock Cook-off goes on all weekend. For some healthier fare, hit up the Spring Farmers Market downtown. Go fly a kite at Dangberg Home Historic Park, just past Douglas High School on Highway 88; their ‘Something in the Wind’ Celebration is both Saturday and Sunday. Don’t forget to leave non-perishable food by your mailbox: the annual ‘Stamp Out Hunger’ food drive is today. Let someone else take care of Sunday breakfast. The Elks Club’s monthly pancake breakfast starts at 8:30 a.m., but they’ll start serving bloody marys at 7 a.m. if you need some hair of the dog. Go for a strike at Carson Lanes with their Breakfast and Bowl special. The Capital City Community Band welcomes area elementary school choirs onstage during today’s free concert, A Salute to Young Musicians, at the Community Center.

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Pair that with unlimited bowling until noon and you’ve got yourself a great Sunday. The Capital City Community Band performs at the First Presbyterian Church in its annual ‘Let the Band Play On’ concert. Show some appreciation for these talented musicians by making a donation to their group. Games aren’t just for kids, you know. Nerdvana is holding its first ‘Adult Games Night’ this evening, just make sure to bring your ID.

Fight the chill with chili at the Carson Bulldog Wrestling Club’s Chili Cook-off at Yogurt Beach. Sing some holiday songs at the Holiday Karaoke Sing-along Party at the Carson City Library. Dayton lights up its tree tonight at ‘Our Park,’ so dress in your ugliest sweater and enjoy some hot chocolate and cookies at their ‘Small Town Christmas’ celebration.

Have you been naughty or nice this year? You’ll have no problem finding Jolly Old St. Nick this weekend. At Debug Computers where, in exchange for a donation to Holiday with a Hero, you can get a photo with the man in red. The Santa Train at the Nevada State Railroad Museum is a good place to grab a candy cane, some hot cocoa, and tell him what you’d like to find under the tree. Photographs with Santa are available at the Carson Mall Wednesday through Sunday. Genoa’s annual Breakfast with Santa has three seatings beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Hot air balloons, the annual beard contest, the parade, tours of the Governor’s Mansion, and more make this time of year amazing. It’s a good weekend for the arts. Consort Canzona presents a free concert on Sunday: “Madrigals and Dances: A Celebration of Renaissance Music.” The ‘Music Man’ wraps up its successful run at the Community Center. The Capital City Community Band performs old favorites at Western Nevada College. And you won’t want to miss the Zephyrus Brass Quintet on the Dangberg Ranch lawn.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is hosting their annual Cops and Kids Open House, so head to the courthouse for some fun.

Capital City Community Band celebrates the Sesquicentennial with a free concert

The Capital City Community Band will open its 38th concert season with a free "old-fashioned band concert" on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, at 3:00pm at the Amphitheater in the Legislative Mall in Carson City, NV (weather permitting.) This year's concert will commemorate Nevada's sesquicentennial Celebration. The concert is FREE and open to the public. Parents are encouraged to bring their children to enjoy this concert.

Three-hour Nevada Parade kicks off at 10 a.m. along Carson Street route

Sunny skies and crisp fall temperatures are in motion for the 74th annual Nevada Day Parade, which begins at 10 a.m. down Carson Street in Carson City. The three-hour four mile-long parade features hundreds of colorful floats, high-stepping equestrian units, and spirited marching bands from throughout the state. The traditional 10 a.m. flyover of military aircraft from the Fallon Naval Air Station and Nevada Air Guard will kick-off the parade.

It only takes four days to celebrate statehood in Nevada. The Silver State knows how to party! The annual Carson City Nevada Day events will observe the 147th year since joining the union, with the theme, “Nevada's Great Outdoors,” Oct. 27-30, 2011.

A four-day celebration of the Silver State's admission to the Union in 1864 will be celebrated the last weekend in October in Nevada's state capitol of Carson City.

The Capital City Community Band will feature flautists Diana Ruby and Robin Link on Sunday, May 22, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. in the Boldrick Theater in the Carson City Community Center. The soloists will perform Cimarosa's "Concertante For Two Flutes" accompanied by the Capital City Community Band.
