Carson City man faces meth trafficking and other charges after NHP stop
Submitted by editor on Tue, 12/14/2010 - 12:58pmA Carson City man faces several felony charges including methamphetamine trafficking after being stopped by the Nevada Highway Patrol on Sunday.
Clint G. Malone, 27, is being held at the Washoe County Jail and faces charges of meth trafficking, driving under the influence, speeding, driving on a suspended driver's license and two misdemeanor traffic-related failure to appear warrants. The bail amount was set at $22,054.
Carson City authorities make felony drug-related arrests
Submitted by editor on Mon, 10/25/2010 - 12:26pmCarson City authorities made two felony arrests since Friday including a woman wanted on a violation of a bail condition, and, in a separate case, a man who admitted to using a credit card that didn't belong to him to buy merchandise as trade to fuel his habit.
Authorities on Friday arrested Laurie Ann Hancock, 43, of Carson City who had been on the run from the police after skipping out on a September hearing in Carson City Justice Court. The woman is suspected of stealing money from her former employer and was supposed to be in court on felony charges.
Carson City authorities arrest men after heroin, meth found
Submitted by editor on Sun, 08/22/2010 - 11:55amTwo men were arrested by Carson City authorities on Saturday after officers discovered heroin and methamphetamine in a car they pulled over because of erratic driving.
Andrew Woodburn, 31, of Carson City, faces charges of felony drug possession for sale; possession of hypodermic needles and drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $15,000 cash bondable.
Joseph Alex Kendall, 23, of Dayton, faces a felony charge of possession controlled substances — methamphetamine and heroin. Bail was set at $2,500 cash, plus Kendall has an outstanding warrant out of Lyon County.
Robbery investigation continues; authorities question couple at Carson City antique shop

Whether it is related to the robbery or not, a man who apparently fit the description of the robber is being questioned this afternoon at a Curry Street antique shop.
The man entered the store with a female, at about 3:20 this afternoon.

Yucca Mountain Legal Mess Worsens
Submitted by on Fri, 04/09/2010 - 2:55pmAccording to the executive director of the Nevada Agency for Nuclear Projects, Bruce Breslow, this week saw some unexpected and interesting new developments in the ongoing litigation process related to the Yucca Mountain License application.
“The matter is becoming increasingly complicated,” said Breslow.
Nevada had been in the middle of the Yucca Mountain License Application hearing process when on March 3, 2010, the Department of Energy (DOE) made a motion to withdraw the license with prejudice.
Carson City man charged with obstruction after drunken tirade against officers
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 03/29/2010 - 10:59amA 23-year-old unemployed Carson City man was arrested after allegedly obstructing an officer when deputies found him and a woman lying in the middle of the road near a bar at 1475 Old Hot Springs Road.
Officers found the man sitting next to the woman, propping her up as she continually fell over, according to a deputy report. Officers asked the man what had happened, and the man said "I ain't driving. I don't need to tell you anything."
More Opposition Emerges to DOE Plan to End Licensing of Yucca Mountain
Submitted by on Mon, 03/22/2010 - 3:41pmCARSON CITY – Five members of Congress representing the states of Washington and South Carolina have sent a letter to U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu protesting a decision to reallocate $115 million budgeted for work on Yucca Mountain and discontinue licensing of the site as a nuclear waste repository.
