UNR Seismological lab monitors series of small earthquakes in north Reno

The Nevada Seismological Laboratory reports a series of 32 very small earthquakes since Nov. 28 in the vicinity of North McCarran and Highway 395. The largest of the earthquake cluster was felt early Saturday, 2:02 a.m. with a magnitude of 1.9.

Stewart Indian School annual Powwow recognized with national award

The Stewart Indian School Father's Day Powwow often stands out to attendees by the setting alone. “It’s a beautiful campus with multicolored stone buildings as well as the the grassy field,” said Sherry Rupert, executive director of the Nevada Indian Commission. “That’s a big attraction because most powwows are held in dirt or in parking lots.”

Historic Ormsby House in Carson City in escrow; expected to be finalized by end of 2017

One of Carson City's most prominent, historic buildings is officially in escrow, according to the property manager for the Ormsby House. Ted Stoever, senior vice president, Northern Nevada Land & Development Investment Services for Colliers International, told News 4 that the "iconic" property is currently in the process of being purchased.
The news was also made to the Carson City Board of Supervisors on Thursday.

Swarm produces two magnitude 4 earthquakes northwest of Truckee, Lake Tahoe areas

The Nevada Seismological Laboratory reports two local magnitude 4.0 and 4.1 earthquakes in a swarm of 40 events Tuesday centered 13 miles northwest of Truckee, Calif. The two largest events were separated by seven minutes.
