Boys & Girls Club offers back to school activities, learning programs for Carson City area kids

As the 2020-21 school year continues, the Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada is packed with learning programs and exciting activities for kids of all ages.

The Carson City location at 1870 Russell Way is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with dozens of hands-on programs. Spots inside the building are limited to 135 kids each day, but countless activities will be held throughout the year.

Carson area organizations among 13 statewide to receive CARES Act food insecurity funding

The Nevada Department of Agriculture announced 13 organizations will be awarded Community Food Response relief funding through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada (BGCWN), together in partnership with Carson City Toyota, would like to thank the community for another successful year of meeting the goals for their annual matching campaign.

For every dollar donated during the months of February and March, Carson City Toyota matched those donations, up to $10,000.

On April 22nd 2019, the Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada hosted their first clean-up of Fulstone Wetlands as part of the Adopt-A-Trail program.

Around 90 participants picked up 200 pounds of trash! The Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department wants to extend our thanks for the efforts of the Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada.

Carson City Schools Foundation awards teachers with $200 Mini-Grants

The Carson City School District, on behalf of the Carson City Schools Foundation, is pleased to announce the 10 winners of $200 mini-grants. The competitive process garnered nearly 30 applications from district educators. The review committee had a difficult task of narrowing down all the worthy applications to award 10 grants.

Carson City Judge Tatro receives Lifetime Achievement Award from Nevada Judges Association

The Nevada Judges Association consisting of over 80 Justices of the Peace and Municipal Court Judges from the Justice and Municipal Courts throughout the State of Nevada honored Carson City Justice of the Peace/Municipal Court Judge John Tatro with the Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Squeaky’s Car Wash in Carson City to Host Boys & Girls Club Donation Day on Saturday

Carson City, Nev. — Squeaky’s Car Wash, located at 1580 N. Lompa Ln. in Carson City (on the corner of Lompa Lane and HWY 50), will partner with the Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. to raise funds for the Club. Squeaky’s will offer an Ultimate wash in exchange for donations to the Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada.

Eddie Money Concert Benefits Boys and Girls Club, Carson Valley Branch

Eddie Money performs in TJ's Corral, the new outdoor events center at Carson Valley Inn in Minden. The show takes place Saturday, June 21, 2014 with auction and ticket proceeds to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada, Carson Valley Branch. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., live auction begins at 7 p.m. and show starts at 7:30 p.m.
Auction items include VIP trips for two to the 2015 Country Music Awards, Del Mar Race Track and Atlanta Falcons Game as guests of Coach Tice and more.

Boys & Girls Club receives $10k donation from Carson City Toyota

Dick Campagni's Carson City Toyota presented the Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada with a check for $10,000 today.

"Every day we serve 600 to 800 kids, for a nominal fee, so we never charge the parents too much," said Laurie Gorris, Chief Professional Officer of the Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada. "And they get after school programing, homework help and a meal every day and mentoring."

City National Bank gives Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada share of community grant

The Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada in Carson City was among 15 charitable organizations in four states to receive a portion of $15,000 from City National Bank.

The bank recently celebrated its 60th anniversary and awarded community grants to charities of choice. The bank will continue to select grants on a quarterly basis this year.

Carson City, NV – From the Carson Library and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada, librarian-led summer programs and activities are over the halfway point and more than 1,500 community youth are participating. Summer reading pages for prizes, technology enrichments, video journalism and art clinics are among the most popular ways youth are spending time.

Increasing the Joy in Carson City!

Twenty five percent of Carson City children live at or below the poverty line. Increasing the Joy is making the holiday season more joyful by distributing gifts to these children, who may not have a traditional Christmas like many of us. Last year Increasing the Joy gave out 500 gifts and for 2012 we've set our goals even higher at 700 gifts. We believe that every child deserves joy.

Boys and Girls clubs receive grants to promote healthy eating and active lifestyle

The Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation announced that the Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Elko Boys & Girls Club (Elko, Nev.) will both receive a $10,000 start-up grant to implement Triple Play programming. Additionally, Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows (Reno, Nev.) and Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada (Carson, Nev.) will receive $5,000 Triple Play Healthy Habits grants to provide programming focused on teaching the importance of healthy eating habits and being physically active.
