The Silver City Preservation Society welcomes everyone for a day of holiday revelry and shopping on the Comstock! On Saturday, Dec. 2, 12 local and regional fine artists and artisans will show and sell their handmade wares in the beautiful, festively decorated historic Silver City Schoolhouse in Silver City, the heart of the Comstock. Admission is free.

St. Mary's Art Center in Virginia City fills four floors with festivities and over 30 tables of one-of-a-kind creations by exceptional artists, writers, and makers.  Join us for this fun event in a beautiful historic building and support your local area artists, writers, and makers, just in time for unique and thoughtful gift giving. 

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region to help the next three days breeze by. Events include Harvest Train festivities at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, Thomas the Tank Engine and steam train rides in Virginia City, the first-ever Gandy Dance in Dayton, October Ghost Walk Tours through downtown Carson City and more!

Carson City Art Gallery & Pottery LLC invites you to come see their newest artist, Roger Freeman, who is participating in the Carson City Art Faire this Saturday, August 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

When Charles Blim considers new artists to exhibit in his gallery at 114 W. Telegraph Street in downtown Carson City, he looks at more than just their artwork.

The Capital City Arts Initiative, CCAI, will present a talk by Tom di Maria, Director of the Creative Growth Art Center in Oakland, Calif., this Tuesday, Sept. 13.

His illustrated talk, "Outside In", is next in CCAI’s Nevada Neighbors series. The talk will take place at 7pm at the Community Development building [the Brick], 108 E Proctor St, Carson City. There will be an informal reception for di Maria preceding the event at 6:15pm. The presentation and reception are free, and the public is cordially invited.

From Carson City to Silver City, Fallon, Virginia City, Sparks and Lake Tahoe, Sunday is filled with activities as we round the corner into the three-day weekend. There's a 5K Remembrance Run in Carson City, a rib cook-off in Sparks, a farm-to-fork festival culinary festival and fireworks at South Lake Tahoe, the Cantaloupe Festival in Fallon, the Comstock Community Rummage Sale in Silver City and the Great Civil War Days Camp at Virginia City.
SUNDAY:

• IHOP 5K Remembrance Run and Walk: free, informal, untimed five-kilometer run/walk is set to start in the parking lot at the Carson City IHOP: 3883 S. Carson St. at 7am and finish at the Nevada Guard's Office of the Adjutant General Complex: 2460 Fairview Dr. (7am-10am; Reflective running/walking gear is recommended and participants should follow the marked course; Civilian participants should arrange ride back to start line)
• First Sunday Breakfast at the Elks Club: 515 N Nevada (bar opens 7am; 8:30am-11am, $7)
• Revolution Dog Sports Rat-tacular Barn Hunt and BattleBorn Bonanza Jack Russell Trials at Fuji Park

Labor Day Weekend Highlights

Carson City:

• Treasure hunt on Saturday at the Carson City Historical Society Rummage and Yard Sale at the Forman-Roberts House Museum at 1207 N. Carson St. Free tours of the museum will also be available during the 9am-4pm event.
• Take a ride on the Virginia and Truckee #25 Steam Engine at the Nevada State Train Museum Friday through Monday.
