It’s going to be a breezy weekend, so you may want to rethink spending the day at the lake. Luckily, plenty of options are available just about anywhere you are. Carson City has a car show and Brewfest hitting the downtown corridor, and to the south, Minden and Gardnerville are having their party of the year: Carson Valley Days. It’s World Doll Day at the Nevada State Museum with special displays, activities, and a special performance by the local Young Chautauquans.

The Carson City Library will kick off its “Libraries Rock” Summer Learning Challenge on Sunday with a food truck, yoga and other family-friendly activities.

The Carson City Senior Center rolled out the welcome mat for its newly refreshed lobby and reception area in a celebration on Tuesday, June 5.

A 45-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday in the area of Paul Way for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, a sheriff’s deputy said.

Lake Tahoe agencies remind residents and visitors to practice proper food storage and trash disposal at all times while in bear country. Intentional or unintentional feeding of bears can result in the bear being killed, fines and possible jail time for violators.

What began as a very dry winter in the Lake Tahoe Basin ended with Sierra snowpack approximately 85 percent of normal, thanks to heavy precipitation received during the month of March. However, both the National Interagency Fire Center and the Reno National Weather Service expect a warming trend to develop that will lead to drier than normal conditions by late spring.

The kids of Wild Horse Children’s Theater continue their successful run of Junie B. Jones at the Brewery Arts Center - it’s their final weekend, so don’t miss out. Maddie’s Adoption Days is a state-wide event trying to find forever homes for dogs and cats; you’ll find several local shelters and rescues participating in the free adoption days.

March 2018 employment growth remains strong in the Silver State with ongoing increases in Carson City, Reno and Sparks and Las Vegas areas, according to figures released Tuesday by the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team arrested a man Tuesday after he allegedly emptied packaged baggies of methamphetamine into his coffee cup in order to conceal evidence.

The thrust behind a cluster of residential construction projects around Carson City appears to be job growth in the area, local development experts say.

On Monday, April 2, Carson City held two public information open house sessions on the proposed FY 2019 budget at the Carson City Community Center. Each session began with an overview of the budget process and a summary of the proposed budget. After the initial presentation the public met with individual city departments.
