CARSON CITY — V&T Railway is celebrating Halloween with family-friendly and spooky railbike rides. Running Friday, Oct. 23 through Sunday, Oct. 25 and Wednesday, Oct. 28 through Sunday, Oct. 31, V&T Railway will offer children and adult focused haunted railbike rides at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively.

We’ve got a bunch of great events in the region through the weekend, so check below!

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region over the next three days. Dozens of sweets are in store for Saturday. The American Association of University Women holds its 20th annual Feast of Chocolate at the Carson Plaza and Event Center. Artsy Fartsy Gallery hosts its 9th annual Jewelry and Chocolate Show with several new decorative pieces. To cap-off Saturday, the legendary Cab Calloway Orchestra makes its way to the capital city.

A cancer diagnosis is life-threatening, financially devastating, and strikes without warning. Even patients who have worked hard all their life can find themselves struggling to afford necessities such as keeping their lights on, buying gas (for travel to treatment), and covering the high cost of medicine. As one of the regions only organizations providing such support for patients, Carson Tahoe is their only safety net.

Headed into Thursday, April 11, 2019 we welcome Carson City to another day where weather forecasters say there's a chance of rain and maybe even a few snow showers mixed in. Beyond the weather we're looking at a blockbuster day and night filled will activities throughout town. From library presentations, a TV show casting call at the Carson Nugget, an afternoon hike, to a train history presentation, a book signing at the Brewery Arts Center, a CHS theater performance and the Carson City movie screening premier of "The Mustang" filmed at the historic Nevada State Prison, there's something for everyone. Carson St., Thursday, April 11, at 2 p.m. Area residents and guests age 21 and over are encouraged to apply. No acting experience is necessary.

The thunderous roar of jet engines will rumble across the skies above Carson City and the Carson Valley this weekend as the famed U.S. Navy Blue Angels flight team headlines the 2018 Aviation Roundup at the Minden-Tahoe Airport.

Live band New Wave Crave is performing a free 80s tribute show at the Carson Nugget, 507 N. Carson Street in Carson City, Friday and Saturday nights from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Ages 21 and older only.

Billy Idol, INXS, The Cure, David Bowie: Join New Wave Crave as they embrace the 80s in fun ways that make you want to get up and dance!

Happy Friday Carson City! Today starts the sunny weekend ahead, with a high of 67 and cloudless skies.

On the books today is the Loud as Folk concert at the Brewery Arts Center, a tour of the Carson River, a morning walk of the newly opened Linear Ditch Trail, Moon Lectures, and more!

The Carson City Moose Lodge No. 2709 is holding a Fall Poker Run on Saturday, Oct. 13.

Registration takes place at the Moose Lodge, located at 1475 Old Hot Springs Way in Carson City, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Entry is $20 per hand and includes lunch at the run's last stop. Players must be 21 and older to participate.

Join die-hard Raiders fans at Jimmy G's this Sunday, Sept. 30 for the Cleveland Browns vs. Oakland Raiders football game, kick off scheduled at 1:05 p.m.

The Nevada Raider Nation — Carson City Chapter, welcomes all football fans to their events. A barbecue will be available to members; those attending are asked to bring a side dish to share with other club members.

Today's column features good news and bad news. The bad news is Labor Day is now behind us and we must re-adjust to a regular two-day weekend again. But therein lies the good news. Another weekend has arrived, and you'll find plenty of ways to enjoy your time off.

Cast members of a new television show pilot “Casino Boss” that was filmed this week at the Carson Nugget in Carson City attended a formal meet and greet Thursday evening.

Hundreds of Carsonites attended a cast call Tuesday hosted by the Carson Nugget, hoping to become extras in a new TV show "Casino Boss," that will begin filming its pilot this week.

CARSON CITY — A new sitcom called “Casino Boss” starring comedian, movie star and Saturday Night Live alum, Joe Piscopo, is filming in the Carson Nugget Casino, located at 507 N. Carson Street. Show producers are holding a casting call for extras to appear in the pilot at Alatte inside the Nugget Tuesday, August 7 from 4-7 p.m.

Mr. Dangberg sold 1,000 subscription papers at $10 each to be used to construct a "large and commodious building" in Minden, Nevada called the Carson Valley Improvement Club.

Playing in the snow probably isn’t an option for this weekend, but Singing in the Rain sure is. The kids of Youth Theater Carson City present a junior adaptation of the musical favorite this weekend and next. The Experimental Aircraft Association hosts ‘Young Eagle’ flights every few months at the Carson Airport to give kids 8 – 17 a plane ride to remember. Help out the Dayton Food Bank during their ‘Stuff-a-Cop-Car’ food drive at the Smith’s in Dayton; unexpired non-perishables of all kinds are appreciated. Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval responded to U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions decision Thursday to rescind the Obama-era directive that allowed states to make decisions regarding federal enforcement of marijuana laws.

On November 24th, 2017, The Carson Comedy Club inside of the Carson Nugget presents Comedian Carlos Rodriguez. The 21 and older show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 and available from guest services.

Based out of Atlanta, Carlos is a Navy veteran, a family man, and one who loves to make people laugh. Humor and comedy have kept Carlos sane in one of the most stressful and unenjoyable places to be.

Finally, Nevada Day weekend is here. State offices are closed, the kids are off school, and Carson City is hoppin’. Join the Downtown Business Association for the ‘Passport to Downtown’ with live music, a raffle, craft and vendor show, and a family fun center, complete with petting zoo. Stick around for the annual fall Blinky Man Costumed Nighttime Bike Ride Pub Crawl with Lights. Halloween festivities, a carnival in Mills Park, and opening night of the La Ka Lel Be Pow Wow are on today’s list, as well.

It’s that time again. The Battle Born state celebrates its admission to the United States on the last Friday of October, with the annual Nevada Day parade on Saturday. New this year is a ‘Passport to Downtown’ event on Friday. Also new this year is the one-night-only curated art show, Capital Collage, on Friday night featuring over 20 diverse artists and organizations.

The Silver State’s vote to legalize recreational marijuana last November has implications for Nevada teens beyond potentially easier access and more temptation.

It’s wine walk weekend, and depending on what kinds of days off you get, potentially the beginning of a four-day weekend. We will be celebrating the birthday of the United States of America on Tuesday, but there are some fun events to enjoy now. If you happen to be up very early on Saturday morning, you may just see some runners in the pre-dawn hours. The Reno-Tahoe Odyssey, a 178 mile relay, passes through Carson City on its way to Virginia City. A huge congratulations goes out to the Class of 2017; the Carson High graduates will get their diplomas today. Don’t let your parade get rained out though, downtown Carson will march right through this wet stuff. The early Spring Farmers Market debuts today behind Due Sorella at Nevada and Musser Streets. Grab the kids and enjoy today’s open house with free admission at the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada. Hang in there, Carson City, spring is coming. If you can make it through today you’ll be rewarded with warming temperatures, with Sunday starting a nice little run in the 70s. Celebrate Arbor Day with a tree planting at Mills Park, and if you’re one of the first fifty arrivals you’ll get your own sapling to plant. Afterwards, take a stroll with the Carson City Historical Society and learn about the history of our big downtown trees. Tonight, Carson Comedy takes over the Carson Nugget and the Brewery Arts Center as Dan Gabriel and Chris Franjola bring the laughs.

It may be April’s Fools Day, but the fun going on around town is no joke. Get your blood pumping with the Carson Canyon Half Marathon (or Half/Half Marathon if you want something shorter.) It’s Wine Walk weekend, and with the sunny day you have no reason to stay home. The Youth Theater Carson City Showstoppers want to ‘Give Our Regards to Broadway’ during their one weekend only production.
