Carson City driver arrested for second DUI; collides with vehicle she 'thought was moving'
A 29-year-old Carson City woman was arrested for her second DUI after crashing on South Nevada Street on Thursday night. According to the booking report, just before midnight, deputies were dispatched to South Nevada for a crash between two vehicles.
When deputies arrived, they made contact with the driver of one of the vehicles who appeared to be intoxicated. Deputies stated the driver was unsteady on her feet and had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her person, the report states.
She had red, watery eyes, slurred speech, and appeared disoriented, the report states. Deputies noted it appeared she had a broken nose from the accident, but the driver refused any medical attention. She told deputies she hit her face on the steering wheel during the crash.
When deputies asked if she had consumed any alcohol or taken narcotics, she initially said no then admitted to taking two shots of Jameson at the bar, the report states.
The woman appeared as if she “could not comprehend” what deputies were asking for when requesting her insurance, according to the report. She told deputies she had been traveling southbound on Nevada Street and thought the vehicle in front of her was moving and she collided with it.
Deputies again asked her if she had consumed any alcohol, and she said yes, she had taken three shots of Jameson at the bar.
The woman submitted to a preliminary breath test which provided a result of .354 BAC.
Deputies transported the woman to the hospital for medical clearance before she was taken to the jail and booked on DUI second. Bail: $2,637
