Carson City arrests: Pair jailed for alleged possession of meth with intent to sell
Two were arrested early Tuesday for felony drug and other alleged crimes, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Arrest were Joshua Ansley, 31, and Neoma Simas, 52, both of Dayton. Both were booked for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Ansley was also booked for three alleged gross misdemeanor offenses: Possession of burglary tools, obstruct and interning with an officer with force/threat, and battery on a protected person. He was also booked for misdemeanor ex-felon failing to register.
According to the booking report, a Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle at 2:19 a.m. that did not have a license plate on the back of the vehicle properly displayed.
The deputy asked Ansley for his driver's license, registration and insurance. The man became argumentative as to why he was stopped, the report states. A female passenger was in the car, later identified as Neoma Simas.
The man become more verbal and argumentative. The officer gave several verbal commands to exit the vehicle. Neither cooperated. When a deputy reached into the vehicle to unlock the door, the man rolled up the window, according to the report.
The officer opened an unlocked door and gave Ansley verbal commands to place his hands where the officer could see them. The man placed his right hand under his right leg. The man was pulled from the vehicle and placed under arrest. Simas exited the vehicle. Meanwhile, K-9 Cash provided a positive alert on the exterior of the vehicle.
During a pat-down search, deputies located approximately 36.6 grams of methamphetamine packaged and separated in two different bags on Ansley, while Simas had 23.4 grams other methamphetamine on her person. Simas had four packaged bags of methamphetamine.
Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and located a backpack in the back seat. Inside the backpack were three car keys, a small tool set and two vehicle ignitions with damage to the keyholes. Also located were hypodermic needles. Bail: $40,000 each.
In other arrests:
— A 26-year-old Gardnerville man was arrested Monday for a warrant alleging violation of pretrial conditions. Bail: $3,000 cash.
— A 38-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday for two misdemeanor failure to appear warrants out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $750.
— A 34-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Monday for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant. Bail: $3,000 cash.
