Carson City Park Ranger-led event features junior orienteering this Sunday
Happy New Year from the Carson City Park Rangers! Every month, the Park Rangers offer various Ranger-Led programs that include educational opportunities, historical fun and exciting adventures.
All programs are offered for free and take place in one of the many Carson City parks and open space areas. Online Registration is often required so Park Rangers have a proper head count.
All programs are subject to cancellation due to Park Ranger availability; registered participants will be notified. You can find more information about each program by going here.
There have been two programs already this month, a Galaxy Talk and Winter Wonderland Patrol. This Sunday, Jan. 29 is the third program.
Junior Park Ranger Activity: Orienteering
Junior Park Ranger Activities are generally held quarterly throughout the year for the purpose of completing sections within the Adventure Guide. This month, JR Rangers will work through pages 6 and 7 with a Park Ranger while exploring Carson River Park. Jr Rangers will be using their orienteering skills help navigate around the area to locate items.
The hike will be about 1 mile total over easy terrain. The trail is considered "Easy" according to the IMBA trail rating system. Bring all hiking essentials including closed-toe shoes and layers.
