Carson City Rotarians brighten the holidays for local seniors
The Rotary Club of Carson City helped brighten the holidays for 20 homebound senior citizens this week. The Carson City Senior Center identified the seniors in need and provided the Rotarians with their wish lists.
Club members went shopping using club money to fulfill those wishes.
“Making sure that our senior community feels loved and gets a dose of the holiday spirit embodies what the Rotary motto is all about,” said Rotary Club of Carson City President Garrett Lepire.
He says this is the second year in a row that Rotary members have “adopted” seniors over the holidays. “We chose seniors, rather than youth, due to the number of seniors in need, especially homebound seniors. Many have no nearby family, so we really wanted to provide them with some holiday cheer.”
Club members spent approximately $100.00 on each senior. The gifts were delivered by Meals on Wheels.
