Health insurance enrollment deadline nears for Nevada Health Link coverage by Jan. 1
Want to start the new year with health insurance coverage? Nevadans have until Dec. 31 at 11:59 p.m. to enroll in a health insurance plan through NevadaHealthLink.com in order for coverage to take effect on Jan. 1, 2024.
The Open Enrollment period goes until Jan. 15, 2024, but for those who enroll between Jan. 1 and Jan. 15, coverage will begin Feb. 1. To be fully insured by the new year, Nevadans have just 10 days left to select and enroll in a plan through the state’s marketplace.
In the first month of open enrollment, 14,570 Nevadans took action to enroll in a plan through Nevada Health Link. Cost savings continue to make health insurance plans more affordable and nearly 9 in 10 Nevadans who enroll in a plan are utilizing financial assistance (tax credits) to help lower the cost of their monthly premiums.
Nevadans can visit NevadaHealthLink.com to explore up to 163 different health insurance options (number of plans available varies depending on county) available on the marketplace.
Nevadans can also seek free enrollment assistance with licensed enrollment professionals on NevadaHealthLink.com by using the Find Local Assistance tool on the website or by calling 1-800-547-2927.
Nevadans can use the online tool to find brokers or navigators in their area who are available to help answer questions, find coverage, and enroll in a plan. Help is available over the phone or in person, offered in multiple languages, and available in every county across the state. Nevada Health Link is the ONLY place Nevadans can receive federal tax credits (subsidies) to help offset the cost of monthly plans.
Nevada Health Link is ideal for those who are uninsured or underinsured, do not have employer-sponsored health insurance, and do not qualify for Medicare or Medicaid. Open Enrollment is the only time of year Nevadans can freely enroll in a plan without having experienced a “qualifying life event” such as getting married, having a baby, or moving.
This plan year, 163 Qualified Health Plans are offered across eight private insurance carriers. Nevada Health Link also offers quality care options for vision and dental. Vision plans are available through VSP Vision Insurance; and 18 Qualified Dental Plans will be available through five insurance carriers. Nevada Health Link is operated by the state agency, the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange.
