Thieves smash doors, take cash register money from two Carson City book stores
Two Carson City businesses had their glass doors smashed and cash registers tampered with overnight.
The Manger Christian Bookstore, and Dreamwell Comics, located at 4250 Cochise Street in South Carson City at the corner of Clearview were broken into sometime overnight, with the thief or thieves apparently attempting to get money from cash registers.
No merchandise was taken from the stores but about $30 between the two businesses was taken out of both cash registers, said Carson City Sheriff's Deputy Don Gibson. The glass doors that shattered will also be replaced.
In the case of the comic store, the thief took the cash register outside the store, where it was found smashed on the ground in the parking lot. At the Christian bookstore there was some property damage inside where a display case was smashed and glass shattered.
