Two Carson City women arrested for methamphetamine possession after cutting off deputy in intersection
Two Carson City women were arrested in the area of E. William Thursday night for possession of methamphetamine after allegedly cutting off a deputy.
According to the report, the deputy was patrolling in the area of E. William and Gold Dust West Way when a vehicle made a left hand turn on a yellow, cutting in front of the deputy who was driving through the intersection.
The deputy stopped the vehicle and made contact with its two occupants, Brittany Leonard-Ynacay-Nye and Michaela Wilson.
Wilson, the passenger, asked the deputy if she could leave the vehicle and go to the grocery store. Since she was not wearing her seat belt, according to the deputy, she was told to stay.
When the deputy asked if there were any drugs inside the vehicle, Leonard-Ynacay-Nye looked down towards the floorboards of the vehicle and said there “should not be,” but that the vehicle did not belong to her.
K-9 Deputy Blue was dispatched to the scene and gave a positive alert outside the vehicle. The women were removed from the vehicle and it was searched.
Inside, deputies first located a bag beneath the driver’s seat with a glass methamphetamine bong inside. The bong had a loaded rock of methamphetamine still inside.
Inside Wilson’s backpack, deputies located a tackle box and a scale with crystalized residue on its surface. Inside the tackle box deputies located one bag of methamphetamine, two bags with residue, a spoon, two hypodermic needles, q-tips, and a glass methamphetamine pipe.
When asked if they had anything on their person, Leonard-Ynacay-Nye stated she had methamphetamine in her pants, and deputies told her she could retrieve it at the jail.
As Leonard-Ynacay-Nye was getting into the patrol vehicle, she also produced a clear vial that contained methamphetamine, and stated she would retrieve the other at the jail.
In total, Leonard-Ynacay-Nye had 9.2 grams of methamphetamine on her person and in her possession, and Wilson possessed 1.8 grams.
They were taken into custody at the jail without issue.
Bail for Leonard-Ynacay-Nye: $3,704
Bail for Wilson: $3,617
