Two Carson City jail inmates face felony battery charges after fight in cell
Two Carson City jail inmates face felony battery charges after a fight Monday inside one of the cells, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said. Arrested were Nathan Scott Chavez, 31, and Donald Lee Davis, 29, both of Carson City. Each were given bail amounts of $20,000.
According to the arrest report, officers were advised at around 9:10 p.m. there was a fight taking place inside a jail cell. Jail officers responded. Upon arrival officers observed Davis inside one of the cells with blood coming from his mouth and nose. He had visible marks over his upper body and face.
There was also blood on the floor, walls and sink. Davis was advised to get on the ground and place his hands behind his back. He was cuffed for safety reasons.
While fellow deputies were walking the pod attempting to locate the other inmate involved, Sgt. Mays observed inmate Chavez on the ground underneath a day room table. He was observed by Sgt. Mays attempting to rub his hands together as if he were trying to wipe them clean. He was placed into handcuffs. After reviewing video both men were charged with felony battery by a prisoner.
In other arrests:
— A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 1:02 a.m. in the 200 block of Allouette Way on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery. According to the arrest report, officers were called to the location where a man and woman had been in a dispute. The two were separated and interviewed. The man denied he had injuries. He stated he was trying to leave the location but his girlfriend wouldn’t let him.
The woman told officers the man battered her by picking her up and throwing her out of the apartment’s front door and onto the patio area where she sustained injuries on her left knee. She showed officers her injuries on her knee and swelling and a lump on her head. The woman filled out a statement. Based on the investigation the man was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery and taken to jail. Bail: $3,000. The woman, 29, was also arrested on a failure to appear warrant issued Oct. 7, 2014 out of East Fork Township court. Bail: $300.
— A 48-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Monday, 9:50 a.m. on a misdemeanor warrants for domestic battery second and violation of an extended protection order. The court orders were signed Nov. 24, 2014 in Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $10,000.
— A 28-year-old Carson City woman was booked Monday, 7:30 p.m. on a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Nov. 7, 2013 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.
— A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 12:11 p.m. in the 4300 block of North Carson Street on a warrant, contempt of court, issued Nov. 4, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.
Those arrested and facing charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
