Carson City emergency crews respond to crash at South Carson Street and Old Clear Creek

Carson City Fire Department, sheriff's deputies and the Nevada Highway Patrol responded early Wednesday evening to a vehicle crash in the northbound lane of South Carson Street at Old Clear Creek Road.

The crash, reported shortly before 5:30 p.m., involves three vehicles and is blocking traffic. Paramedics evaluated three people on scene, all declining medical attention via ambulance.

The northbound lane of South Carson Street is blocked. Motorists can expect delays.

A house fire in the 4800 block of W. Sutro Terrace was reported just after 10:45 a.m. on Friday.

The resident is evacuating. The fire began near the area of the chimney, according to dispatch.

For the week ending February 6, initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) totaled 9,953, up 132 claims, or 1.3 percent, compared to the previous week’s total of 9,821 claims, according to finalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR).

On November 16, 2020, Jon Berg was driving on I-580 from Reno to the Carson Valley when he was involved in a rollover crash. Inside the car were Berg’s two five-year-old dachshunds Katie and Brandie. Both were spooked and they took off and ended up separated. One was chased into Voltaire Canyon and the other up Spooner Summit.
