Power outages in Carson City, Lyon County, Douglas County and more due to high winds
High winds have knocked out the power all across the western Nevada region, including Carson City, Gardnerville, Dayton, Lake Tahoe, Reno and Sparks.
As of noon Tuesday, more than 1,000 Northern Nevada NV Energy customers were without power, according to the utility.
The National Weather Service issued a High Wind Warning for Western Nevada which will last until 7 p.m. this evening.
Southwest winds of 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 70 mph are expected. Overall wind speeds may be lower in some area, but gusts of at least 50 mph are expected in all areas.
Residents should be aware of possible falling branches or trees as well as damaged power lines. Use caution while driving high profile vehicles on Highway 395 and I-580.
