Man wanted for parole violation jailed after vehicle pursuit in Carson City
UPDATE 11/18/23: The woman arrested with Murray was initially misidentified as the suspect and has been corrected.
A man who led Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies on a vehicle pursuit late Wednesday afternoon and was wanted for parole violation was arrested Thursday, according to the Carson City Sheriff's Office.
JD Murray, 44, was taken into custody at an apartment in the area of College Parkway and Airport Road, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.
According to a news release, the Carson City Sheriff's Office assisted the Northern Nevada Repeat Offender Program and Regional Crime Suppression Unit with locating Murray.
Murray had an active felony warrant out of the State of Nevada Department of Parole and Probation, and probable cause for arrest existed for a crime he was believed to have committed in Sparks.
After locating a vehicle and positively identifying Murray as the driver, he fled from Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies on Wednesday. As a result of the joint operation’s surveillance effort, Murray was located and arrested at about 2:45 pm Thursday at the 3400 hundred block of Airport Road in Carson City, along with Amanda
Barham,, who was actively assisting Murray in attempting to evade law enforcement.
Three firearms were recovered during Murray’s arrest, two handguns and a semi-auto shotgun. Both of the pistols were stolen, one out of Reno and the other out of Sacramento, Calif.
Murray will be booked on the following charges: Parole and Probation warrant, three counts of ex-felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, and two counts of possession of stolen property. Savannah will be booked on charges of aiding and abetting, and possession of a controlled substance.
Both will be booked in the Carson City Jail. The Carson City Sheriff's Office, ROP, and CSU thank the public for the tips they provided to assist with locating Murray, the news release states.
