Carson City Supervisor candidates discuss election wins, plans moving forward
On Friday the Carson City Board of Supervisors will hold a canvass of the vote to certify the 2022 midterm election results.
Though still unofficial, incumbent Stacey Giomi won his reelection bid for Ward 1, alongside newcomer Curt Horton to represent Ward 3.
"I’m incredibly thankful and humbled by this community's support in my re-election bid,” Giomi said. “I look forward to continuing my service to our citizens with integrity and compassion over these next four years.“
In moving forward, Giomi says he is committed to keeping Carson City government open and accessible, and would like to see more focus on public safety and updating the master plan.
“We need to work together to solve some of our immediate issues like road maintenance and continued improvements to our aging infrastructure; at the same time, we need to keep a focus on public safety and get our master plan updated,” Giomi said. “Those items will be my focus over the next four years.”
Horton won his election to oversee Ward 3, who will be replacing Stan Jones.
Horton appreciated the election process, and said it allowed him to meet even more people, and interact with various groups throughout the city.
After taking office, Horton will focus first becoming “even more familiar with the projects and issues currently facing the board and continue to build relationships with our citizens and city staff.”
Horton also thanked his opponent, Jim Wells.
“I want to say that my opponent Jim Wells was professional and kind through the entire process,” Horton said. “Jim is a great guy and a very qualified individual.”
Horton also thanked the Carson City community for their support throughout the election process.
