Suspects in attempted robbery at Carson City Keva Juice face multiple charges
Two men arrested Saturday in connection to an attempted armed robbery at a south Carson Street juice shop have been identified, each facing multiple charges, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Dale Jones, 33, Jesse Waldon James, 44, face felony charges of attempted robbery. Jones, who allegedly committed the robbery using a gun at Keva Juice in the 2300 block of South Carson Street, also faces additional charges of assault with a deadly weapon, being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm and misdemeanor probation violation. His bail was set at $83,000.
James also faces two misdemeanor warrant counts of failure to appear in court and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $44,787.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched at 4:35 p.m. to the robbery. While officers were responding, dispatch advised a witness was following the robbery suspect. The witness, who was with another person and had been at Starbucks located near Keva Juice, relayed information to dispatch that a man was on a blue or dark colored bicycle traveling westbound on Rhodes Street. Dispatch advised the subject then got into a brown RV and it was traveling southbound on Curry Street.
A deputy located the RV and conducted a high risk traffic stop in the parking lot of Applebee’s in the 3300 block of South Carson Street. James exited the vehicle first and was detained followed by Jones.
Officers then spoke with the two Keva Juice employees and collected information about the attempted robbery. They learned a man with a Halloween mask holding a Walmart shopping bag and a gun told the employees to empty the register. An employee told the robber to leave and the man repeated his command and pointed the gun.
The man was again asked to leave. When the man turned his back, the employees ran into the office and called 911. Cameras in the office captured the man leaving the store. An employee stepped outside and yelled that the store had been robbed, the arrest report states. The witness who was at the Starbucks, made contact with dispatch, following the bicycle and saw the suspect get into the RV and leave.
Inside the RV officers found a Halloween mask, clothing associated with what Jones was wearing at the time of the attempted robbery, a long barrel revolver, black gloves, a bicycle, plastic shopping bag and khaki bag. Also located as a meth pipe, two throwing knifes, two cell phones, and black revolver BB handgun.
