Group to have rally before next Douglas County School District board meeting
The next meeting for the Douglas County School Board is on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 4 p.m. The day before will be a rally along US 395 from 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.
The group "We Deserve A Better Board" hopes to fill the sidewalks through the middle of town with the color red and positive messages on signs to elevate their voice and show the community they want positive change.
Organizers are asking for signs that prioritize positive interactions with staff and students; support for students and staff; willingness to listen to parents, students, and staff; transparency in decision-making (including fiscal decision-making), and an open process of selecting the next superintendent. They are asking for people to park at Carson Valley Middle School and meet on the lawn in front of the Playhouse.
The biggest part of the board agenda will be the consent items. Unless a trustee or member of the audience has a question concerning a particular item and asks that it be withdrawn from the consent list, the items are approved at one time by the Board of Trustees;
