22 deaths reported this week from COVID-19 in the Quad Counties along with 350 new cases, and 238 recoveries

An average of over 3 people per day died this week from COVID-19 in the Quad Counties, with 22 total deaths being reported.

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is providing the Quad-County community with a weekly update for the week starting November 4 and ending November 10, 2021.

COVID-19 Case Update

For the week, CCHHS is reporting 22 deaths, 350 new cases, and 238 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 20,823, with 15,773 recoveries and 361 deaths; 4,689 cases remain active.

Carson City had 5 deaths, 111 new cases, and 68 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Carson City is 10 new cases per day with a 5.2 percent test positivity rate.

Douglas County had 8 deaths, 109 new cases, and 54 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Douglas County is 10 new cases per day with a 12.4 percent test positivity rate.

Lyon County had 9 deaths, 128 new cases, and 112 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Lyon County is 11 new cases per day with a 13.1 percent test positivity rate.

Storey County had 2 new cases and 4 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Storey County is 0 new cases per day with a 16.7 percent test positivity rate.


COVID-19 Vaccination Update

As of November 10, 2021, approximately 199,902 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered by Quad-County providers. CCHHS has administered 72,102 doses of COVID-19 vaccine. Approximately 85,616 Quad-County residents have completed vaccination (received both doses of a 2-dose series vaccine such as Pfizer or Moderna or received the single dose Janssen vaccine) and 94,074 have initiated it (received the first dose of a 2-dose series such as Pfizer or Moderna. This number also includes those who completed the series). Data is not CCHHS’ and is taken from the Nevada Health Response Dashboard which can be found at https://nvhealthresponse.nv.gov/.

In Carson City, 32,881 residents have been completely vaccinated and 35,967 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 65.1 percent of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.

In Douglas County, 25,064 residents have been completely vaccinated and 27,459 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 56.9 percent of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.

In Lyon County, 26,891 residents have been completely vaccinated and 29,779 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 52.9 percent of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.

In Storey County, 780 residents have been completely vaccinated and 869 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 20.1 percent of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.

Quad-County Breakthrough Cases

Vaccine breakthrough cases are individuals who testing positive for COVID-19 more than 14 days after they have completed all recommended doses of an FDA authorized COVID-19 vaccine. Since February 1, 2021, out of the total population in the Quad-County region who are fully vaccinated, approximately 1,407 people out of 100k are cases and approximately 9,697 unvaccinated people out of 100k are cases.

Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine For Children Ages 5 to 11

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) authorized the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for use in children ages 5 to 11. Children ages 5 through 11 years receive one-third of the adult dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. Adolescents ages 12 years and older receive the same dose of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine as adults. Your child will need a second shot of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine 3 weeks after their first shot. CCHHS is offering the Pediatric Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at all community vaccination events. Upcoming CCHHS Walk-In COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics

All vaccines are available on a walk-in basis at every event for first, second, and third doses for those who are immunocompromised. Pfizer, Moderna, and Janssen booster doses are available for those who are eligible. COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card or proof of first dose is required for second dose, third dose, or booster dose.
