NDOT begins bridge enhancement projects along Highway 395 in Carson Valley
The Nevada Department of Transportation announced Monday it will do $1.6 million worth of work on four bridges along Highway 395 south of Carson City in Douglas County.
Two bridges cross the Carson River and two cross the adjacent Cradlebaugh Slough. The bridges will be seismically retrofit as part of NDOT’s continuing effort to retrofit older bridges for enhanced safety and stability during potential earthquakes.
Rock will be placed in the riverbed to help reduce future erosion of the bridge supports, and other bridge rehabilitation and improvements will also be made. Approximately 29,000 vehicles travel the stretch of U.S. 395 daily.
Periodic lane and shoulder closures will take place primarily during non-commute hours. One lane in each direction of U.S. 395 will always be available.
Granite Construction Company is the contractor. The project is scheduled to complete by early summer 2016.
