New stop sign at Mountain and Fleischmann
Motorists on Carson City’s west side are advised to heed a new three-way stop at North Mountain Street and Fleischmann Way, Carson City Transportation Manager Patrick Pittenger said Tuesday.
Work crews placed large orange signs in the area alerting motorists to the new traffic changes, he said.
“We put signs out in advance saying traffic revision ahead to warn people,” Pittenger said.
City work crews were out Tuesday morning striping the intersection and installing additional stop signs along Mountain Street, on which motorists used to have the right of way.
Now all directions must stop at the intersection.
The addition of the new all-way stop intersection was in response to resident and motorist concerns about safety, Pittenger said.
“We studied the area after receiving multiple complaints from residents and people expressing concerns with safety and difficulty getting from Fleischmann onto Mountain,” he said. “In the past we added red painted corners to help improve visibility from parked cars along Mountain Street. But this was the next step.”
