Intoxicated driver parked in middle of road mistakenly thinks he’s at the Bunny Ranch

A Carson City man was arrested earlier this week after officers found his vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway, with the intoxicated driver insisting that he was parked at a brothel, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

The 41-year-old man was arrested Monday, Oct. 20, 11:43 p.m. in the area of Imperial and Applegate on a misdemeanor charge, suspicion of DUI first offense.

According to the arrest report, officers arrived at the location in reference to a man who was parked in the middle of the roadway, straddled half way in and half way out of his vehicle. Prior to arrival, dispatch advised the man was out of his vehicle trying to walk around. Dispatch advised the reporting witness noticed the man was rocking back and forth and appeared to be intoxicated, the arrest report states.

Officers arrived and noticed a green Dodge truck parked in the middle of both the southbound and northbound travel lanes. Officers made contact with the man and could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath. Officers asked the man if he knew where he was at. The man replied: “I’m parked at the Bunny Ranch,” the arrest report states.

The officer told the man he was not parked at the Bunny Ranch and was, instead, parked in the middle of the roadway blocking both lanes of travel. The man said “No, I am not. I’m at the Bunny Ranch.” The officer asked the man for his driver’s license. The man was confused while trying to locate his license, the arresting deputy observed.

The officer asked the man if he had been drinking and the man replied “yes, I had a few beers and I am buzzed right now,” the arrest report states.

The man was asked if he’d be willing to perform Standardized Field Sobriety tests. He voluntarily agreed. When the man exited his vehicle he fell toward the officer. The officer grabbed his left arm and assisted the man with standing. The officer asked the man if he was OK to perform the tests. The man replied “yes.” The officer asked the man to walk over to the side of the roadway. As he was walking over to the roadway, he was swaying side to side and had to be assisted so that he would not fall to the ground, the arrest report states.

The officer attempted six sobriety tests where the man could not maintain his balance without assistance. The man told the arresting officer: “I’m sorry, I’m really buzzed.” He provided a preliminary breath test with a .282 and was taken to jail. Bail: $1,137.

According to the arrest report, undersheriff Steve Albertsen had observed a vehicle stopped in the area of Hot Springs and Northgate Lane. He saw a man exit the vehicle, grab both arms of a woman, attempting to put her in the vehicle. When the woman resisted, the man pushed her to the ground, the arrest report states.

Albertsen attempted to contact the man, at which time he got into his vehicle and left. Albertsen got into his patrol vehicle and attempted to block the man for further investigation. The man then drove around Albertsen’s vehicle and refused to stop. He then drove to the 3200 block of Imperial Way where he lived. Once there, the man told Albertsen it was “a family dispute,” the arrest report states.

Minutes later, officers arrived on scene and were briefed by Albertsen. Officers contacted the woman who agreed to speak. She corroborated Albertsen’s statements, but advised “he did not hurt me,” the arrest report states. Officers photographed the woman’s arms which had sustained some redness. The woman declined to give a written statement, the arrest report states.

While attempting to place the suspect in the patrol car, the man turned around and pushed against a deputy, remaining defiant and combative and would not comply with orders from officers. Once in the vehicle, the man requested his handcuffs be removed so he could kick the officers asses, the arrest report states. Bail: $3,489.

Officers located the man and the motorcycle, which wasn’t street legal because it was without lights or turn signals. The man also didn’t have registration or insurance.
Officers spoke with the man and noticed he had a moderate to strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath.

His eyes were watery and bloodshot and he had thick speech and was occasionally slurring his words, the arrest report states. Officer asked the man how much he had to drink. He stated he had a double shot of Jack Daniel’s whiskey at approximately 4 a.m. but had nothing to drink since.
