Nevada Day 2023 souvenir cups available now
Nevada Day, Inc., in partnership with greenUP!, announces the reusable, stainless steel cups are available for purchase prior to The Nevada Day celebration.
The collector cups, made by Klean Kanteen, feature both Nevada Day and greenUP! logos and sell for $15 each. Numerous bars and restaurants give the holder $1 off certain drinks at the event. The list of vendors will be available on the Nevada Day website and in the parade program.
“Consumers that purchase the reusable souvenir cups demonstrate a concern for preserving our beautiful state” said Donna Walden, President of the greenUP! Board. “Plastics break down very slowly and affect people, animals, and the environment over time.”
GreenUP! will continue to offer the $1 off discount for those that bring their cups to the participating restaurants and bars during the time that the Carson Street Green Dining District banner is flying the following week: Monday, Oct. 30 through Sunday, Nov. 5.
According to Upstream, a non-profit that studies environmental impact, a reusable stainless steel cup used 300 times creates 166 times less carbon pollution and 36 times less waste than single-use plastic cups.
“We are always looking for ways to reduce trash and have a cleaner event,” says Brooke Santina, Nevada Day Executive Director. “The cups are functional, save people money and are great souvenirs, plus they are better for the environment.”
The cups are available for purchase at the Nevada Gift Shop, formerly the Nevada Day store, 1013 S Carson St., and participating businesses in Carson City including Arby’s, The Basil, Cucino Lupo, Great Basin Brewing Company, Juan’s Mexican Grill and Cantina, Squeeze In and So Juicy.
A small number of cups will be sold in front of the Adams Hub during the Nevada Day parade. Cups from previous years will be honored for the discount on Nevada Day.
