Xquisite golf tourney highlights partnerships, raises $31K to help human trafficking, sex abuse survivors
CARSON CITY — Xquisite, a nonprofit organization committed to raising awareness and providing support to combat human trafficking, sexual assault, and domestic abuse, recently hosted its third annual Golf Tournament. This year's golf tournament demonstrated the power of community partnerships and garnered tremendous support from local businesses, volunteers, and sponsors.
Northern Nevada has been witnessing an increasing number of indicators of human trafficking, often intertwined with cases of domestic violence within our local neighborhoods. The annual Golf Tournament serves as a vital platform to raise awareness and generate the necessary resources to address these critical issues. Xquisite is profoundly grateful for the support of the community, whose belief in the organization's mission is to help to bring about positive change.
This year's tournament was a resounding success, with 80 dedicated golfers, 54 local businesses, and over 46 volunteers, including student teams from Northern Nevada Juniors Volleyball and Bishop Minogue High School. Xquisite extends heartfelt gratitude to its Platinum Sponsor, Northern Nevada Juniors Volleyball, and Jason & Alix Sterrett, who have sponsored the event for the second consecutive year. Their generosity has significantly contributed to the tournament's success.

The Xquisite Golf Tournament raised an impressive $31,000 this year, enabling the organization to further its mission. These funds will be directed toward the Diamond Strong Freedom Center, which provides resources and advocacy at no cost to survivors of human trafficking, sexual assault, and domestic abuse. Xquisite is excited to continue its work, with ambitious plans for the coming year to create an even greater impact in the communities of Carson City, Douglas County, Lyon County, Storey County, and Washoe County.
The tournament's winning team was sponsored by Mike and Julie Dianda and led by Clint Capurro, Conner Capurro, Ian Patterson, and Mark McVeigh. Additionally, the law enforcement team, representing the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and led by Jon Storke, Jeff Johnson, Sal Derosa, and Bruce Jacobsen, secured victory for the second year in a row.
"It's truly remarkable to witness the power of unity and shared passion when people come together for a common cause," said Executive Director, Brenda Sandquist of Xquisite. "We extend our deepest gratitude to all who joined us in the fight against human trafficking, sexual assault, and domestic abuse. Your support is instrumental in making a difference in our communities."
Xquisite looks forward to the next year and invites everyone to participate in the fourth annual Xquisite Golf Tournament scheduled for October 7, 2024.
