New music series begins Saturday at Carson City's Brewery Arts Center

The Brewery Arts Center will be starting a new singer/songwriter series this Saturday night in what was formerly the Maizie Harris Jesse Black Box Theater, now simple known as The Maizie. Musicale @TheMaizie will be performed in an intimate setting with local and touring singer and songwriters giving them an opportunity to connect with the audience, interact and discuss the creative process.
The definition of musicale is “a musical gathering or concert, typically small and informal” and that is exactly what this series is intended to be.
The first in the series will begin this Saturday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. with two powerhouse performers, Rachel McElhiney and Kelly Proud. Kelly Proud merges acoustic folk and blues, Kelly is a local singer-songwriter with a gift for storytelling and appropriate usage of curse words. Her voice is hypnotic and her songwriting will make you grateful you never broke her heart.
Rachel McElhiney is a multi-instrumentalist She burst on to the folk scene with her band Buster Blue, garnering attention from Billboard as well as a coveted invitation to record a Daytrotter Session. Whether singing a cappella or over the stark accompaniment of ukulele and baritone saxophone, Rachel’s soulful voice takes command of any stage as she weaves stories of life, love, and lessons learned from her grandfather.
“This series is generously funded in part by one of our long time members who loves our big outdoor shows but misses the intimate setting for live music that we haven’t been able to have since COVID”, says Executive Director Gina Lopez.
