Carson City deputies make domestic battery, multiple DUI arrests over weekend
A 26-year-old man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery and obstruction, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office report.
On Oct. 8 at 9:24 p.m. deputies were dispatched to a Russell Way residence regarding a domestic battery. Deputies learned during the investigation and speaking with witnesses that the suspect battered the victim. Deputies observed the victim had injuries to her arms and knees, the report states.
The suspect walked away from deputies and was detained. The suspect was heavily intoxicated and submitted to a preliminary breath test of .314. He was taken to the hospital for medical clearance due to the high alcohol content and then to jail. Bail: $3,549.
In other arrests:
— A 54-year-old man was arrested Saturday, 2:36 a.m. for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI. According to the booking report, a deputy conducted a traffic stop for a wrong way driver at the intersection of Curry Street and West Spear.
The deputy made contact with the driver, and observed red watery eyes. The officer asked if he had been drinking and the man replied he had. He performed standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test of .261 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. At jail he agreed to an evidentiary blood draw. Bail: $1,137.
— A Carson City man was arrested early Sunday for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI. According to the booking report, deputies observed a vehicle swerving in the travel lane of North Carson Street. The vehicle swerved over both white and yellow lines on the road several times.
The man performed standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test of .207 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. At jail he provided evidentiary breath tests of .222 and .217. Bail: $1,137.
— A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday 10:31 a.m. in the 4200 block of South Carson Street for driving with a suspended license, no proof of insurance, driving an unregistered vehicle and for having an outstanding warrant. Bail: $2,921.
— A 63-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday for a misdemeanor outside agency warrant issued August 3, 2022 out of Reno Municipal Court. Bail: $5,000.
— A 42-year-old Louisiana man, Melvin Montgomery Jr., was arrested Sunday for a failure to appear felony warrant out of Carson City District Court. He was held without bail in lieu of a hearing.
— A 41-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 2:55 a.m. for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI and failure to maintain a lane.
According to the booking report, a deputy observed a vehicle swerve widely outside of its marked travel lane, swerving both left and right outside the marked lane lines.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop, with the vehicle's pace significantly slowed but did not come to a complete stop as it turned onto California street. The vehicle came to an angled stop several feet from the sidewalk curb, the report states.
The officer could smell an odor of alcohol coming from the driver's person. The deputy asked the man how much alcohol he had consumed. The man stated he had only a single beer. The man exited the vehicle and took part in field sobriety tests, and showed signs of impairment, the report states.
Leading up to the tests he was unbalanced, stumbled, and swayed. The man refused a preliminary breath test and an evidentiary blood test. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI. A warrant for a blood draw was applied for and granted by a Carson City judge. Bail: $1,224.
— A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of violation of bail conditions and disorderly conduct.
According to the booking report, officers were dispatched to a store, where the man was being loud, demanding a cigarette, and yelling, frightening families who were shopping. A request was made for a citizen's arrest.
Deputies located the man, and asked if he was using drugs as the man is a known drug user. The man replied he smoked meth the day prior, the arrest report states. Bail: $3,000 cash for being in violation of bail conditions and $242 for disorderly conduct.
