Carson City arrests: Man allegedly shatters victim's phone during domestic alteration
A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday for allegedly taking the phone away from the victim of a domestic battery, a felony offense.
Jaimie Michael Pule was taken into custody at 7:28 p.m. following an investigation into the incident. He was also arrested for a misdemeanor bench warrant issued out of Carson City Justice Court and misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery.
According to the booking report, deputies were dispatched to a Hot Springs Road residence for a report of a physical altercation between the reporting party and the 34-year-old man.
Dispatch ran a wants and warrants check and learned the man had a bench warrant for his arrest for violation of a suspended sentence. The confirmed warrant was issued Feb. 14, 2019 with a cash bail amount of $3,000. He was arrested for the warrant after officers arrived at the scene.
During the investigation, deputies learned the victim allegedly attempted to call 911 during the altercation. The suspect allegedly punched the victim in the arm and face and took away their cell phone as they were actively talking to dispatch, throwing it to the ground and shattering it, dissuading the victim from reporting him to dispatch, according to the arrest report.
The suspect was booked for the alleged offenses of felony dissuading a victim from reporting a crime, misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery and a misdemeanor bench warrant. Bail amount listed: $8,637.
In other arrests:
— A 62-year-old Placerville woman was arrested Oct. 7, 8 a.m. for a misdemeanor contempt of court, failure to appear warrant issued Sept. 15, 2021 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $5,000.
— A 55-year-old man was arrested Oct. 7, 3:27 p.m. for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI.
According to the booking report, a deputy made a traffic stop at Saliman and Telegraph streets for fo vehicle that was speeding, going 30 mph over the posted speed limit in an active school zone.
Officers made contact with the driver, and could smell an odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle and from his person. The deputy noted he observed the driver having bloodshot and watery eyes and slurred speech.
The man agreed to standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He blew a preliminary breath test of .204 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. At jail he provided evidentiary breath samples of .161 and .168. Bail: $1,137.
